For those of you that chart and use OKP's

Does your temperature shift show the same day you get an LH surge indicator on your OPK? I have been charting for a two months but just started using the Clear Blue OPK yesterday. Yesterday it was negative. I got a smiley face today but my temp is only up .3 degrees and I am on day 13 of my normally 28 day cycle. I am thrilled to see the LH surge but just wondering why my temp doesn't seem to coordinate with it. Anybody had similar results? Thanks!

Re: For those of you that chart and use OKP's

  • Sorry - should have been OPK's in title, not OKP's! oops
  • I don't chart but it is my understanding that the LH surge indicates you are about to ovulate and that the temperature shift happens after you ovulate.
TTC since August 2008 4 cycles Femara = BFN Dx PCOS February 2010, 1000 mg Metformin XR IUI #1: Dexamethasone + Femara + Ovidrel + Progesterone = BFN IUI #2: Dexamethasone + Femara + Ovidrel + Progesterone = BFP! Our son arrived January 17, 2011!

     Ditto to the above!

The OPKs only test for the occurrence of the LH surge that precedes  ovulation.  They don't indicate whether you have definitively ovulated.

  • Yeah, I must have still been half asleep when I wrote the post. After Susan responded I realized that was the case! Oh well, I took advantage of that positive result today so hopefully my temp will rise and stay that day for over 18 days! ha ha ha
