Do you remember?

The biker that was killed on Harrison Road almost 2 years ago??

He was my FIL. I forgot to add it to my original post, that that's how I have spent the summer in Tucson, we were there for a month. Not a pleasant way to get to the know the city, but everyone as so kind and helpful towards us, which is part of the reason we are moving to Tucson.

My MIL, H and I, are very proactive in bikers being careful and finding some way to protect them. I think it's awesome Tucson has so many bike lanes, they just need to be protected a little more I think.

Re: Do you remember?

  • I'm so sorry about your FIL. ?I'm glad you're giving the city a second chance, though.
    ?
Regarding bike lanes in Tucson, most are pretty good. ?I really love the pedestrian/biker -triggered crosswalk lights, especially as I used to be able to travel from the UofA (where I work) west to our old house without ever having to ride on a busy street or cross one w/o a signal. ?Unfortunately, our new place isn't so convenient to a good bike route.
    ?
Be very careful if you want to ride in the bike lanes of the main?thoroughfares. ?Those scare me - the cars are speeding, the bus is going to run up your back or you're going to run into it, and too few drivers look before entering the bike lane to turn right. ? ?My DH (who used to bike down Broadway! sometimes) has been less than supportive of some of the routes I've proposed to bike to work and they're not even the large streets. ?I miss the old bike commute.
