Former Coast brides? Help!

I am currently in Starkville, but am originally from Biloxi. I am wanting to have my wedding in Biloxi, but of course I am going to be planning some parts from a distance due to the fact that I am still in school and its super hard to get away. I was wondering did anyone have their wedding on the coast and can you recommend some vendors? Any detail from the location all the way down to catering will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Former Coast brides? Help!

  • I had a wonderful florist - Village Florist in Gulfport.  All my vendors left after the storm.
  • Patsy at Lagnaippe was the best caterer a gal could ask for.  The food was great, her staf was friendly, and she was so greating working with my parents!  She has a restaurant in Ocean Springs.  We had our wedding at St. Alphonsus in OS and our reception at the OS Civic Center.  Looked into the hall at the Walter Anderson.  Beautiful locale, but my parents were worried about the size group we could fit in there, and the very expensive murals on the walls that have strict guidelines.  A friend of ours got married at the Cathedral, and the reception in their hall.  Very beautiful!  Rehersal dinner at Phoencians in OS.  The main guy there was very accomodating. If you don't want guests to stay at the casinos, check out rooms at Gulf Hills.  They also have a very nice banquet hall.  May have had mine there, if it wasn't already booked.  DJ Todd in Vancleave was great to work with too, considering I didn't email him my song list until the night before the wedding.  He MCd the reception, and had everything we needed.  And of course, Sweet Stuff for your cake.  No question about that!!!
  • I was married on the Gulf Coast last year, and the one vendor that I would HIGHLY recommend was my DJ, Jim Horne of Gautier, MS. He was FABULOUS! I didn't have to worry about a thing at the reception. He was truly a master of ceremonies and let me know when it was time to cut the cake, have the first dance, etc.

Jim Horne was our DJ too and he was good. James Edward Bates was our photog, Domino House did flowers/wedding planning, and Naomis did the catering. We had our reception at the Markhem, but that was 2 months before Katrina destroyed it. Good Luck!!
