Need more advice on Atlantic City hotels
I looked into the Chelsea and it's beautiful but we are trying to keep the price down...Harrah's is nice but it's away from everything and I know we'll want too eat down towards the shops or in Tropicana...I would stay at Tropicana but I never have and the reviews are not that great.
Anyone have any recs that are on the cheaper end? and Harrah's gets great reviews but how out of the way is it to everything.
Also, has anyone ever been to the comedy shows in AC? Which ones are good?
TIA
Re: Need more advice on Atlantic City hotels
I would look at 2 websites that have good deals: travelzoo.com and hotwire.
Travelzoo lists any specials that are going on and I know that the Trop has some deals on there from time to time.
Hotwire is where we booked the Chelsea. it was $100 cheaper on there than on any other website. If you have never used hotwire, know that the site does not give you the name of the hotel until after you book. However, www.betterbidding.com has hotel lists that help you decipher which hotel is which based on the ammenties. I have used this with hotwire 3 times and it has been correct 3 times. You usually save a bunch of $$.
If you want to give me the dates you are looking at, I am happy to help research it a bit for you. Travel/vacation/getaways is a hobby of mine as is saving $, so I love finding people deals!
I've used Hotwire for my last 2 hotel bookings - both times I got the Loews for $100 less than their website. I didn't know about that betterbidding site though! I'll have to use that next time. I pretty much knew I'd get the Loews or something similar though, b/c I was bidding on 4star hotels.
I'd say if you cant get a good price at the Chelsea, go with Harrah's. We stayed there last summer and the room was really nice. We stayed over in the tower by the pool. Plus, you have the pool there and the Borgata is nearby, too. You can always take a taxi to the Trop.
I stayed at the Trop a couple yrs ago and I didn't think it was that great. However - it depends if you're looking for a nice room or just a place to crash.
The Chelsea is great if you can get a good price. Have breakfast at the restaurant there - Tapinskys? It's Steven Starr - it was good.
Thanks girls!
Krista...we are looking for Friday June 12th...just one night
Thanks so much for helping me out....I tried hotwire but was confused with the names not being listed. I would like to be at Harrahs and they have a cheaper room around $199 but we would rather have the room in the newer tower.
Thanks again
Not a problem at all!
I checked hotwire against better bidding and came up with this:
It appears the Chelsea Luxe Tower is not available that night. It is a 4* and their ammenities are Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free. I dont see that
boo!
However here is what I deciphered based on better bidding's list (http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=87&) :
4* Trump Taj Mahal- $176 (Amenities: Resort, Beachfront, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa)
3.5*- Sheraton $99 (Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business)
3* Trump Marina $132
(Amenities: Near Beach, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Intenret, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa )
I say if you can get Harrah's for $199 - go for it. That's not bad for a weekend night in the summer.
Sign up for a card and do some gambling while you're down there so you get a free night next time : ) My dad gets them constantly, but he needs to go down to get the free room. That's how I stayed at Harrah's last yr - he drove down and got the room for me (he looks for excuses to go to AC).
I've stayed at the Sheraton for a B-party before and have no complaints other than its far off the boardwalk. Since its by the convention center you'd have to take a cab back and forth. The hotel and our room was super nice though. By far the cheapest but nicest option.
If you want a central location I think that the Taj would be your best bet. Check a map to be sure. The Marina is not that great, but is close to Harrah's and Borgata. ( Not sure if they are walkable, pretty sure you'd have to cab it)
