Scope mouthwash is

the best for cleaning your wedding bands. I know we have talked about this subject before but I just had to tell you ladys.

I soaked mine in some last night because I have been getting this really bad rash under my rings for a couple of weeks now. So, I just thought I would clean them to see if that was the problem so I soaked them in scope and then scrubbed the crap out them with my tooth brush and tooth paste, and my finger is better already. I thought I was going to have to stop wearing my bands b/c I have allergic reactions to metal sometimes.

Have any of you had this problem with your rings?

Re: Scope mouthwash is

  • Someone recommended to me white vinegar and water to clean your rings...It totally worked! You just put in the same amount of water and vinegar in a cup and let it sit. If you have a soft tooth brush gently go around the stones and it does the trick...BTW rinse the ring thoroughly with water cause if not your finger with smell like vinegar!!

Sorry to hear your having an allegric reaction to the rings..I'm very allergic to nickel which is used with fake gold  jewelry...

  • This happens to me not because of the metal, but because when I wash my hand the water gets trapped under my ring and dries my finger out.  I have really dry skin so I have to make an extra effort to lotion under my ring.

Me too. During the summer and when Im retaining water if I shower with my rings for a week straight I start to get dry and scaly on that finger.

    Gross.

I use this purple spray thingy that I bought at the mall. I have no idea whats in it but it leaves my rings sparkly. I bet you its vinegar with food coloring lol.

  • oh this happens to me a lot!  At first i thought H got me fake rings... i would tease him all the time... but i knew it wasnt that because my reaction towards fake jewelry is slightly different than this.  With my rings my fingers get a little reddish and the skin gets wrinkly.... its because of the water and soap that dries up under the ring when washing hands, doing dishes, cleaning etc etc....

Imma try cleaning the rings like you suggested Thx for the tip!

  • Oh my goodness. I thought the rash thing only happened to me! I wash my hands like 5 times a day and my wedding band has an open arc at the top which keeps the water under there and gives me basically diaper rash. Then I'm forced to only wear my e-ring while my finger heals. It's still scaly now. And I'm sure that my fingers will be too swollen to even wear rings in a few months.

I normally just take my rings off to let them dry and I put lotion on then put the rings back on. Has anyone else had luck?

  • I teased DH about it too even though I picked out my wedding band. lol and I'm supposed to go every 6 months and get my rings cleaned and checked but they don't scrub them so they really only clean the tops, my bands aren't solid on the inside so lots of stuff is always in there and the cleaner drys in them and looks gross so I don't let them clean them.

I would rather get all the crap out when i clean them instead of adding more.

I'll try putting more lotion on my hands b/c they are pretty dry and see if that makes it go away completely.
