damn birds

every Spring birds attempt to make a nest on the wreath that hangs on our front door

day after day the birds work tirelessly to build a nest, then I come home and destroy it...

I feel bad for the birds but it just isn't a good spot for a nest - We don't have a side door so we use the front door all day, every day. The eggs would never survive. Also they are making holes in the screen.

I took the wreath down for a few weeks - as soon as I put it back up they came back. I like how it looks on the door, so it's staying :) I've tried spraying it with ammonia- but it doesn't seem to keep them away!

Any other suggestions?

Re: damn birds

  • No suggestions, but I would be so paranoid about being attacked by an angry set of sparrows.  I am so not a fan of birds.
  • Also no suggestions..but my mom used to keep a wreath not on her door, but right next to it.  Birds built a nest and would dive bomb anyone who came to the door.  They wouldn't go away until she took it down for good.
