Soooooooo as ya'll know I got approved to get the IUD and I"m going next Friday. I started doing a little more research and I'm obviously finding mixed reviews. I found this forum and these women who have Mirena are having HORRIBLE God awful side effects from it!!! Then I've searched the nest and all the people or posts that I've found have said nothing but wonderful things on it. I guess I'll just have to see how it affects me. The women on the forum were talking about having panic attacks, severe depression, anxiety, overly stressed, weight gain, horrible pains, no libido, don't want to be near their husbands or touched at all by them. Blah I'm glad I did some research but now it has me scared. i don't want to go through that or put DH through that. I think I will try it out and if it doesn't work or if I start seeing any changes like that, I'll get it removed. Do you think this is the best way to go about doing this? I mean I guess you never know until you try huh?
Re: Mirena....
Meg, I think your best bet is to do just what you said before: write down all of your questions to ask your doctor and only go through with it if you are comfortable. Make sure you ask:
If you do end up having side effects and dislike it, can it be removed right away?
Are side effects normally short term? If so, how long before you can expect things to even out?

Megan - I agree 100%. Ask everything you think you'll ever want to know and then ask about getting it removed if it doesn't work out for you. I REALLY hope everything goes well. As Kel said, most BC has side effects for some people, so you don't know how it will affect you until you try it out.
FYI - when I went on the pill, I didn't like it the first few months. I put on at least 5 pounds right away and just generally felt icky. But, now things are good and I'm happy with it (other than remembering to take it every day.) So a timeframe for side effects is key.
