Hi ladies. ?I have only posted here once or twice a long time ago, but I was wondering if you could help me out. ?My DH and I are looking for some ideas for day trips in the south Florida area. ?We have both lived here most of our lives, but I think sometimes being a local can actually make it harder to think of things to do b/c you somewhat forget about what's around. ?I was hoping some of you may have ideas or know of some good websites for ideas. ?We are looking for things that aren't too pricey, as I am out of work right now, but things that can get us out of the house and spending some time together. ?The only thing I have thought of so far is maybe packing a picnic lunch and going to the Flagler Museum. ?I guess it would also be possible to go over to Naples for a day as I know the drive isn't too bad. ?We live right in the northern part of Fort Lauderdale, so we are pretty central to everything and don't mind driving a little ways. ?Any ideas would be great! ?TIA!
Re: Hello and a question..
Vizcaya is a very nice option. You can also take a duck tour of Miami... I believe they start somewhere in South Beach. Lincoln Road is always fun, with lots of shops, restaurants, entertainment (esp. people watching). Parrot Jungle is also very nice... good array of animals. There's always the Miami Seaquarium, but depending on time of yr, can be very hot! Cocowalk (Grove) and Sunset Place (So. Miami) both have movie theaters and shops / restaurants / bars to hang out at. And Miracle Mile is a nice area to walk around, also with tons of restaurants and shops.
In Naples, 5th Avenue has a few shops and restaurants. We've been there a few times is nice. If taking 75, I believe Exit 123 has a great outlet mall - Miromar. If you have time, I recommend stopping. On the way back from Sarasota, we always stop.
