Is everyone ok? Earthquake in Indy? WTF!? :)

I used to live in California and never thought I'd see an earthquake here in Indy.  That was so scary!  We're all ok - are you guys?

Re: Is everyone ok? Earthquake in Indy? WTF!? :)

  • I slept right through it.  This could have been my big chance!
  • We felt it for sure!  That was crazy!
  • I'm in South Bend and it still woke me up here.  I thought I was going crazy until I saw it on the news.  How bizarre.
  • I felt it at work at the hospital in Indy....sure was a weird feeling.

  • We felt it here in South Bend!  How weird was that?

  • I've lived in PA and CA and definitely didn't think Indiana would be where I felt an earthquake. Woke me up- thought someone was trying to break into the house at first- but then I heard stuff rattling over the baby monitor- and I realized what it was.
  • There have been reports that people in Florida and Georgia felt it.  Buildings in Chicago swayed.  There is actually a pretty major fault line in the Midwest. I think it's up north by me. It has been in active for many many many years.

  • I felt the one at 5:30 this morning, but haven't felt the aftershocks.  I woke up and thought someone was running our washing machine.  Our washing machine sometimes shakes our upstairs!  After it was over I woke DH up and asked him if he felt the bed shaking.  He didn't feel it and thought I was nuts when I told him I thought it was an earthquake!
  • The New Madrid Fault line goes through most of Southern IL, on up.  It is the "deadliest" fault line in the US, next to the San Andreas in Cali.

And, something do to with older sediment in the midwest, the quakes from this fault line are felt further out than in Cali, where they're more localized.

this report given to you by the googleing I did this morning :)

I definlty felt it down here.  and the aftershock that happend half hour ago.  One dog freaked, the other didn't care, and the cats spent the next hour in bed with us ;)

  • It woke us up this morning. I thought it was just really windy outside or something. This wasn't my first earthquake. I grew up in Cleveland and there was a pretty decent earthquake there in-I wanna say 1987. I was little, but it jolted me out of bed and I hid under the little table and chairs in my room until my mom came and got me Embarrassed
  • I didn't feel it!  I was kinda upset!  Everyone else said it woke them up!  Not my husband and I we slept right through it and so did our neighbors!  Maybe it didn't hit our road!  HaHa!
  • That was weird! I was surfing the net then suddenly. The hubby slept right through it. My IL's in Southern IL had photo frames falling but everyone was ok.
  • It's kinda of funny because we were driving to Memphis during the quake, passed through the epicenter and never felt a thing! We were driving (a late night drive from Indy to Memphis after work) and yeah... nada.. nuts!!
