Looking for movers (Norwalk area) + moving tips

I'd like to start getting quotes for our move in late June, since I know that's such a busy time to move. It's just a 1-mile move in Norwalk (though I'm sure we could use a moving co. from Stamford or Fairfield, if you know a great one there).

We're moving out of a 2BR apt, so we don't have that much stuff. I would expect the move to cost no more than $1,000... does that sound about right?

Would love recommendations for a moving company, as well as any general moving tips you might have. Thanks!

  • forgive me for doing this, but my poor little post just got buried so quickly. I know there are only a few folks this applies to, and they may not have seen it, and umm... well, here goes nothin...

    *bump*

  • We used 2 Men and a Truck and had a great experience, would highly recommend them.
  • We used 2 men and a truck also and had a good experience.
  • My one piece of moving advice is get boxes from liquor stores. They're sturdy and free!! GL with the move.

  • We used Al Werner moving last time they were okay not great. Before that we used Big John's out of NYC. I also used Castine for a corporate move before that. The $1000 sounds pretty good. Check out BBB and www.movingscams.com just to double check on complaints and issues other people have had. Prices should be about $104-$110 an hour anything higher and anything lower I would start to question.
