Nesties w/ homes for sale

How many pictures do you have on realtor.com?  We have a bunch on our realtor's site (prudentialct.com), but only one on realtor.  I was thinking of asking for more pics on realtor and a blurb about how awesome our house is.  I'm thinking most people look on realtor first and maybe that's the only place they look..

 Do you think it matters?

Re: Nesties w/ homes for sale

  • As a buyer, I definitely think it matters! If I only see one pic of a house, I assume it has issues and don't even go look at it! See what you can do to get those up. All of the homes we've seen have multiple pics (around 16) listed on Realtor.com, coldwellbankermoves.com and raveis.com. Those are the 3 sites I check regularly. GL!
  • As someone who is house hunting...I am MUCH more inclined to be interested in a house that has more than one picture on Realtor.com.

I have no idea how realtor.com works (do you have to pay to post multiple pictures??), but when there is only a photo of the outside of the house, it makes me think that there is something the owners are trying to hide.

To me, the blurb isn't necessary.  I look at the photos first.  I've mostly been using realtor.com and raveis.com.  I don't mind going to the actual listing, on Prudential.com for instance, to read the blurb, but I'll only do this if there are multiple photos so that I can adequately judge my interest in the house.

     Hope that helps!

  • I look at realtor.com first and if there isn't that many pics and I am interested, I click on the link to see if there is more.....

but I would add pics...I tend to look at homes with pics before one or none...

     Good luck w/ selling your house ! : )

  • Kate, your house is so cute!  It shows really well in those pictures.

Thanks for all your advice ladies.  I just emailed our realtor and asked her to put the additional pictures on realtor and to retake some pictures that came out dark.  I just didn't want to be that client that makes everything difficult.  But we've been listed for 4 months now, and I'm really trying to think of additional ways to get more foot traffic.

  • Thanks Lady!  Wanna buy it? J/K.

I definitley want my realtor to come back and re-take once everything gets in bloom and the lawn greens up.

Only if you'll buy mine!  lol..

Yeah, we just took down our front fence, planted pansies and mulched all the beds.  So, I definitely want new outside pictures.  Also, the main picture she's been using is from when I bought it 3 years ago.  So, there aren't any bushes in front, ugly storm door, ugly light, ugly mailbox, etc.  And that's the only picture people are seeing!  I really like our realtor, but I just feel like I'm doing more to sell our house then she is..

  • Ok, when I look at realtor.com and see a house that meets what we're looking for and only has one picture, I go directly to the website of the realtor to see if there are more.  But that's just me b/c I pretty much hate realtor.com.  I always try to find the agency that lists the house b/c it seems like they always have the most information on the property on their actual site.

That's what I do too!  But I think most people don't - and our house shows so much better when you see inside pics, so I'm thinking people don't even bother trying to find the other pics..
  • Does your realtor give you reports of your internet activity?

    My what now?
  • Every month my realtor gives me a report that shows the activity our listing has generated online. How many hits, how many people did searches just for our mls, etc.
  • Hey girls- I'm selling my condo as well... I remember our realtor had said that realtor.com is something that some realtors subscribe to, he said it's like $1000 a year, and that is what allows them to add more pictures. He said that you are now able to add up to 28 pictures per listing. To be honest with you though.... While looking for my house, I RARELY used realtor.com, there just isn't a lot of info on the house. I used raveis, mlspulse, and weichert (because they give you a lot of info about the property) I also get the daily "new listings" in my email. Our open house is on Sunday, i'm praying this thing sells!!!!
  • Ok, so my agent just wrote back:

"As far as realtor.com goes, I have a peeve with them as do most agents because they literally steal the information from the MLS of which we pay big fees through the  year to join  then charge us agents 100's of $ to add pictures.  I will consider it....though it would be against my professional ethics...still thinking..."

Okay, I get they charge money for extra pictures, but isn't that what you're earning a commission for?

  • hmmm.... i agree.... isn't that why you are paying her????????
