I was just reading about the unemployment rates in our Metro area. Sadly there are more people than we realize, and the unemployment rates are not going down anytime soon!
I figured it might help, if we helped each other out! Plus, it might get this board moving!!!! I'm just going to start making a few posts...Enjoy

Re: Unemployment
I voted it would not be useful *for me*. As I am not stressing about finding work. I just have to be patient and something better will come along. BTW- If you haven't already guessed, I am not ashamed that I am unemployed. It happens to the best of us!
For those that are stressed... have faith that you will find something! When a door closes, He opens a window! GL!
I suppose if it was close I would come. I wouldn't drive more than 15 minutes or so for a meeting.
Personally I go back and forth between being embarassed and not being embarassed. I had to report to the unemployment office today. Most of the people there are normal but they do get some doozies. I feel sorry for the people that work there. Yes being there made me embarassed even though logically I know it shouldn't.
However other times it doesn't bother me. I know if the economy wasn't so bad I would still have a job. I was a good worker and my boss said she would give me an excellent recommendation, but I do get offended when someone says " Oh companies are just getting rid of fat." Hmm I never considered what I did as fat but ok.
I have to ask. Are you doing a report or are you unemployed now too? If you are unemployed my sympathies go out to you.
No report... just trying to help. I'm "supposed" to be the STL local editor (aka my name is on top) but I haven't really been active in the past year or two...To be honest, I am currently not working - but it's by choice I did not get fired or laid off. Just got me thinking since I was talking to a few of my friends on this board - and every single of one of them is not working.
I am unemployed but have been for the past 4 years!
I have been lucky enough to be able to be a SAHM.
Right now it is the perfect situation because it allows me to be at my parents house taking care of my Dad who is on hospice for brain cancer. This way my Mom can go to work and not worry about how my Dad is being cared for.
My Dh is in the carpenter's union and recently had to go to school for 2 weeks. He was one of the few guys who still had work. About 90% of the class he was in had been laid off since August.
When DH goes to school they only pay him $50 a week. So those 2 weeks suck BUT at least he had a job to go back to.
Thanks Jennie for offering support. It is scary how many new reports you hear of people killing their whole family because they are having financial problems.
Ok, I am done rambling. Sorry.
Good luck to those looking for work! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
