I'm ready to move

Only 11 days until we close on our house!  The day before we close I'm packing my car with cleaning supplies and our air mattress so we can sleep there as soon as it's ours.  We're going to scrub down the kitchen and bathrooms on Friday evening and then move in on Saturday.  Yay!!!

Re: I'm ready to move

  • That's the one thing I don't like about moving... cleaning the place before you use it. I'm really suprised the condition of some of the places I have lived in. Like did anyone ever vacuum? Found maggots in an apartment kitchen (and literally had flies for the next 12 months... management really didn't care. Was a shame, the building wasn't more than a few years old. My allergies cleared up when I moved out. I went back about 6 hours later and the carpet was collecting a nice pile of dead flies. Maybe management then would believe me that those damn maggots were a problem!)

I love the vacuum for everything.. cleaning drawers, dusting, sweeping. It works so great. Then of course I do a good antibacterial wipe of shelves, drawers, knobs, etc. I don't know what was there before. Have fun!

  • I worked for a housekeeping service one summer in college. We cleaned an apartment after someone moved out and the fridge was full of dead gnats and the walls had some sort of smoke damage. The presence of cats/cat urine was so strong that one girl had to go home. Gross.

Our new house is in great shape (especially for being 90 years old), but it's been empty since August, so it'll be time for a good scrub down/spring cleaning.
