He just put the entire file in her hands today and said we will know by 5pm tonight whether our loan is approved by the PMI company. The difference between this mortgage company and our previous lender (a credit union) is that this company works with five different PMI companies and the credit union only worked with one. And apparently out of the five PMI companies, there is one that still insures loans for people with borderline credit scores like we do.
He has been so positive throughout the past few days and he truly believes that we will still be closing on our house next Friday. Because he's good friends with friends of ours, we trust him and don't think he would say something just to blow sunshine up are arses and give us false hope.
Please cross your fingers for us that he is right and that this PMI company will approve our loan. I am going to be so nervous for the next four hours or whenever he calls us.

I just posted this on another board, but I thought I'd post it here, too, as an update.
The new mortgage company we are working with has been more than stellar and I cannot begin to say enough good things about our loan officer. He approved us for the loan Wednesday night and over the past two days has been keeping us updated with everything.
