spencer - whooping cough question.
A friend of mine is currently at CCMC where she is waiting to find out if her daughter has whooping cough (preliminary ER diagnosis). She brought her daughter into work on Monday and I was in close proximity to her, but didn't hold her/touch her, etc. Any idea what my risk of exposure might be, if any?
Re: spencer - whooping cough question.
Probably not too high, unless the DD was coughing a lot and touching a lot of stuff.
Do you know if you had a recent booster? Adults, and specifically parents and contacts of small children, are supposed to get a tetanus-pertussis-diphtheria booster in place of the regular tetanus-diphtheria shot (Tdap instead of Td). If you haven't had a Tdap, I would recommend it. DS would have gotten pertussis in the DTaP shots given at 2,4,6 and 15 months....so if he's had a couple rounds, he's partially protected.
