Hi, anyone have recc's on a dermatologist in the Nashville area? I did a search on BCBST website and all the ones that came up for Hermitage are didn't have great reviews when I googled them, so I'm willing to go anywhere (pref. they take BCBST insurance). Please share if you have one you like that you'd recc.
Thanks!
Re: Dermatologist Recc?
HUGE CONGRATS to my BFPB mdiblasi10 on her baby boy!!!
Dr. Dawn Vincent at Belle Meade Dermatology is AMAZING! I will never see anyone else. She's been the only person to not only clear up my acne (I've tried EVERYTHING) with the right combo of drugs (which can't be taken now that I am pregnant) and also listened to me and agree/has researched the dairy/acne connection. She also removed a really large mole that I had my entire life that I was seriously terrified of getting removed. It didn't hurt at all, which says a lot coming from a wimp like me. I LOVE her!
If big, dysplastic moles are your issue, I would highly recommend Darrel Ellis. As does the rest of Vandy clinic because I went in for an appt and was told to make another appt with Dr. Ellis and nobody else there (I have a lot of dysplastic nevi plus a family history of melanoma. That's the only reason I go to one).
He knows far more about the genetic background and molecular abnormalities of moles, melanoma than just about any other derm I've been to (and I've been to many). He's published quite a bit on the subject for being a practicing MD and even enlightened me on a few things about moles I didn't know (esp. if I'm ever pg). He's also not one to sound the panic alarm at every last mole just because it's there, but he's agressive enough.
He has been far more thorough on history, exams than any other derm I've had (never had to prompt him to look through my scalp and hair), has all the cameras and such to do mole mapping if that is ever an issue. He and his nurse are nice too.
He runs "mole clinic" at TVC, so he books up several months in advance. So if moles aren't your problem, best to try another doc, leave Dr. Ellis to those of us with fat, juicy moles.
