I ran up to Petco at lunch to get Daisy a new rope toy since hers are all strings now, not ropes, lol. Well I hear this family asking an employee for a muzzle. Well, whatever, not gonna judge I think. I hear her ask what kind of dog and they say a puggle. Very loudly she goes, do you know how hard it is to muzzle a puggle, why do you want to do that? So I keep listening, nosy as I am. They then go on to ask her for SEDATIVES for their dog because it's "very exciteable, dude it's like she has ADD or ADHD." The woman in the aisle with me and I are looking at each other and I said 'did they just ask to sedate their dog?' and she says 'yup. they shouldn't HAVE a dog.'
Argh. Makes me so angry.
Re: bad bad pet owners at Petco
Chances are the poor thing's just not getting enough exercise!
I hate ignorant pet owners! Those people obviously did not research the breeds before they bought their dog. I personally would not own a pug and one of the main reasons is because, as a breed, they tend to be hyper (that's only one of many reasons..they are super cute, though). You'd have to think that a puggle may have that characteristic because it is half pug. Grrr.
Hearing these things makes my blood boil.
Errrrr, that makes me so angry. I don't understand why some people get pets in the first place.
I was at a friend's house for a BBQ once. It was actually her mom's house, and she and her sister still lived there at the time. This friend has a fox terrier and her sister has a jack russell. Their mother sedated them both - the jack russell could barely keep her eyes open - then dragged them around on leashes. Literally - she was DRAGGING the jack russell. It took every ounce of restraint I had not to storm up to her and give her a piece of my mind. I decided not to confront, I just left. The poor puppies. People make me so mad.
Kate - I know. I get this awful feeling in my gut whenever I think about that stupid BBQ.
dc - LMAO at "asshats."
Ugh. Stupid, stupid people. I wish I could have a dog, but it just wouldn't be fair to the poor thing to have them cooped up in our condo all day. I wish those buttmunches would think first and do a little research before committing to an animal. That poor thing.
And MrsForger, OMG! That story makes me sad.
I whined about the whole process of applying for rescue dogs and for applying to get a puppy from a reputable breeder but this is a great example of how people should be screened before being allowed to take care of another living thing. They should have to fill out a 10 page application, have a home visit, interview, vet reference checks and other checks before having a dog.
Obviously these people are asshats and need to consider quite a few other things (exercise, training, crate training, walking the dog). And I never knew pugs to be all that energetic. They crash and burn pretty quickly. Try Springers! LOL.
