My brother lives on a farm, and occasionally someone will dump an animal (a couple he's kept and the rest he's rehomed).
A couple of weeks ago, someone dumped what sounds like a Pomeranian mix at their house - and they can't keep her or find anyone to take her. I said that I would take her, but the problem is getting her from Kansas to the Chicago area. The other problem is that although I'm sure she's had her shots (bro says she looks to be in great health and well cared for before the dumping) all of the transports I've worked with in the past say that you need proof of shots, etc or they won't do it. Money for them is tight and my SIL won't take her to get her shots even though I said I would reimburse them for it.
I can't take the time off to drive the whole way to get her, but my mom is in Jefferson City with FEMA and is driving back on Thursday the 1st and would love the company of a little dog to drive with. She's not allowed to drive the rental car for anything that's not gov't related, so can't drive to where my brother is...and my SIL said that if I don't take her, she's taking her to the shelter. Oy vey. I have a couple leads on a home for her, but I have to get her here. Anyone in the Kansas City area (near Paola) interested in doing a grass roots transport from Osawatomie, KS to Jefferson City, MO? Pretty please??
