Swine flu

Is anyone else freaked out about this? It's so sensationalized in the news. I just read an article that went on and on about how many people could die, how many would be in the ICU and require assistance with breathing, and the economical impacts. Then, at the very end of the article, a teeny tiny paragraph said how we shouldn't worry since it probably won't get that bad, yadda yadda yadda.

Gee, thanks, for freaking me out in the meantime.

But I still won't leave home without my Purel. ;)

Re: Swine flu

  • I hear ya. Right now there's a whole team of dental residents from Mexico City visiting the school and I was like "Yeah...not the brightest idea" LOL Hopefully it will be handeled soon, for now, I'm just keeping an eye out for people with flu-like symptoms and stay way clear of them, and washing my hands like a mad woman.
  • I was out of work yesterday because I have a bad cold. My boss asked me if I had swine flu? I don't, I haven't been to Mexico and I haven't traveled through an airport. I"m still eating, and drinking and I'm not sick to my stomach.

Just like any other flu and cold just make sure to wash your hands as often as possible and drink plenty of fluids and get rest. Keep your immune system healthy. I don't think its going to get that bad, the news is just trying to get everyone all hyped up about. And there are no known cases of swin flu in Florida. I think we are ok!

  • anthrax, SARS, smallpox, Swine...the media loves it all!
  • i just went to the drs today.  he just told me to wash my hands. if for any reason i have a high fever, nausea, diarrhea, etc. then head to the ER.  he told me its just like flu season and we need to becareful.

the suspected ppl that died from the swine flu in mexico is b/c they were left untreated.  i think they (WHO and others) are making a bigger deal out of this and trying not to focus on other important things.

HELLO!!! didn't anyone notice there was a breakout of meningitis last week in Miami-Dade County...I'd be more worried about that than anything else.

  • I am hoping the media is making a bigger deal out of it than it really is, because if what they are reporting is accurate and not exaggerated, then I'm pretty scared! But I figure if it ever comes close to reaching the danger level that they are speculating, there will be PLENTY of warnings telling us exactly what we need to do to avoid it and what to do if we contract it to get immediate treatment.

  • we just got back from our HM in Mexico on Saturday.  If I hear my DH (almost put FI, that was dun) sneeze I jump.  So far so good, if anything would happen to us it would have happened already. Keep washing those hands ladies!
