I need to calm down!

I just got a BFP!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do first. We've been trying, not on a regular basis, since June of '07 and it's finally for real! I"m both terrified and excited. For some reason I still feel like I'm a teenager finding out they are pregnant. I had a sneaking suspicion when the idea of my favorite food made me nauseous. Pair that with my boobs being sore and Aunt Flo not coming and not remember seeing certain things during my cycle...... but it was mostly the whole idea of food making sick that was the major tipoff. Loosing weight during pregnancy isn't the best thing to do, despite having quite a bit of buffer as you can tell from my one ticker. Now it's just a matter of forcing myself to eat. The thought it most foods and even drinks are making me want to get sick. You girls are the first to know. I wanted to test last week, but first i didn't want to test too early and end up just having it be a little late like it sometimes does and then I had a friend staying with us for  the long weekend, so i didn't want to do it then, either. I finally did and...bfp...no question...Now I'm just trying to figure out how to tell DH. I want to make it a surprise. Funny, I've dropped so many hints over the last couple of days. I think he's completely dense or just doesn't want to say anything. Now I need to find a Dr. and all that fun stuff. it would have been so much easier if i was still there in PA.

I was trying to check out the bump... I thought we had our own, but all i found was the Philly and Pittsburgh one.

Oh, and please don't post anything on FB, since i haven't told anyone except you guys : )

Re: I need to calm down!

  • congrats! ?so exciting! ?we do have a central pa babies page, you have to do ?the local baby board, not just the local board from the community page. ? not sure how to better direct you there!
  • Congratulations!!  To get to the Central PA bump board, you should be able to just click on boards up top in the brown bar, then scroll down to the box for Local Bump boards (last box on the left) and select Central PA.  That's how I get there.
  • YAY!!!!!  Congrats!  Best wishes and let us know how your DH reacts!
  • Aww, congratulations!!  So exciting!

  • Congrats!!  You'll definitely have to let us know your DH's reaction!
  • Right now I'm trying to tie the surprise into MayDay-5/1.. I wanted to do Father's day, but I'm not about to wait a month and a half! So all i have is the test and i bought a little grass green bib that says "I love my Daddy". Not sure exactly how to tell him yet.

This naseus business is for the birds, though. it's impossible to plan supper or grocery shop without wanting to get sick Ick!  I keep racking my brain for ideas and when i think of a food that the thought doesn't upset my tummy, then that's what's i've been having.... or trying to have. My worst is i'm a big milk drinker and right now, thats the last thing I want.

  • congrats!  can't wait to hear how your DH reacts.  there's a link to the central PA babies board at the very top of the central PA nesties board.

I found that watermelon really helped my nausea.  If I ate that first, I could usually get something else down.  candied ginger and sea bands helped, too.  it would be funny if you started sporting the sea-bands and your DH still didn't catch on!

  • CONGRATS! It's so wonderful to hear you got a BFP. I know you were trying for a really long time.  I know what you mean about feeling like a teenager... I was so scared to tell my mom and dad, I almost threw up trying to get up the guts.  My mom used to always say (when I was a teenager) "Just don't get pregnant, it will ruin your life." Even though I was married and ready, I think there was still a voice in my head saying I'd ruined my life!
  • Congrats!!  I know this was a long time coming, but what a blessing!  Happy and healthy 9 months!!!!!!!!!!!
  • CONGRATS!  Have a very healthy and happy nine months!!!

  • Congratulations! Try preggie pops for the nausea (I got them at Motherhood Maternity, and they really helped). I post a lot more often on the central pa babies board, so I hope to see you over there!

  • YAY!!  Congratulations, I know you were trying for a long time.  1st trimester is the worst but it does get better...enjoy it as much as you can.  See you on the Central PA baby board!  : )
  • Congratulations!!!!  Let us know how you decide to break the news!
  • Awww, congratulations!

If I may suggest a surprise.....you could leave "thebump" up on the computer screen and when DH gets home ask him if he could look at the computer, you were using it and it started acting weird.
Now if he's that dense lol then there's a problem.

Enjoy your pregnancy : ) I hope the food issues clears up for you!
  • Congrats!  I think the initial excitement makes you feel even more sick, but once you calm down it isn't as bad.  Let's see, the food I ate when I was in my 1st trimester....

Cheerios (carried a baggy of them everywhere I went)

Macaroni and Cheese / Grilled Cheese

    Salad / Pickles

    Fruit - LOTS of Fruit

Other than that, it was hit or miss.  If I ate one of those other things first, then I was possibly able to stomach something else.  Whatever you find that you can eat, make sure to stock up on it : )

  • Congrats!!!!!!!
  • Congrats and a H&H 9 to you!
  • OMG!  Congratulations!!!
