ACL Lineup Announced

http://2009.aclfestival.com/

I want to go sooooo bad, but I dunno if I can justify spending $360 for DH and I to go.

Re: ACL Lineup Announced

  • I'm in the same boat as you! I think Jason will tell me no. :(

  • Um yeah. I had no idea tickets were so expensive! Looks like I won't be going either. Sad

  • I picture my evening conversation with DH to go something like...

Me: So...ACL lineup came out today.

    DH: Really? Anybody good?

Me: Uhhh, yeeeah! Headliners are Pearl Jam, DMB, and Beastie Boys...plus lots of other great bands.

DH: Sounds pretty good. How much are the tickets?

    Me: [insert crickets chirping]

    DH: How much?

Me: So....Mother's Day is just around the corner....Big Smile

  • Ha ha! At least you have a "Mother's Day" excuse. Let us know how that works out!!!

p.s. I'm adding you to my list of nestie blogs I lurk on. Smile

  • HA! ?DH and I went a couple of years ago when John Mayer, Gnarls Barkley, Los Lonely Boys, Etc. were performing. ?I just remember how?incredibly?hot and miserable it was! ?We were supposed to go all three days but ended up only going a day and a half. ?I couldn't make myself go the last day! =P

But damn - we were trying to get our money's worth! ?I felt so old by the end of the weekend. LMAO!?

Yeah...ACL has definitely seen some hot weather. Unfortunately I haven't been since 2003 (sad, I know). But it was awesome. I don't remember it being particularly unbearable but I know its was hot. But how can you pass up REM, Old 97's, Ben Harper, Howie Day, Jack Johnson and OAR?

If I do manage to finagle (sp?) some tickets I'm hoping that since its a little bit later in October it wont be quite so hot.

Thanks, he's quite the little ham. I'm ridiculously behind on my bios and the blog. I'm going to try uploading a bunch of pictures to picasa tonight and then hopefully update my blog and bios tomorrow at work.

  • GUYS! We are going! I'm so excited, it's my first ACL! We bought the tix the day they were $160 each, and we feel like it's WAY worth it! I mean, one concert alone is $40+ anyways now (use that justification with your hubbies!). So, we felt like this was a steal. Plus really cool bands this year! I've seen PJ a few times, but never DMB or Beasties, plus there's some smaller acts that I would LOVE to see! We are staying downtown and plan on just walking there. It's the first week in Oct. which isn't too bad. We went to a 3 day concert in Houston Labor Day weekend (no shade) and it was insanely hot and humid! I just brought a lot of sunscreen and wore a hat. Can you tell me anything about it? Should we try to bring chairs? I just can't see standing the whole day. What is it like? Seems like it's one big party which is why little one is staying at home with grandma and grandpa! So, anyways, any info would be great!

ACL is awesome (weather aside)! What do you want to know really? It's basically a music overload. 8 stages with different bands/artists all going at once....what's not to love? I would highly suggest bringing collapsable chairs. When I went last time I brough my chair that had its own little backpack straps and that helped.

I also packed a small backpack with water bottles and brought a small, soft cooler (think oversized plastic lunch bag...the kind that collapse). Where are you staying downtown? I know Capital Metro usually runs a shuttle but not sure where they'll be running from this year.

In addition to the music they have lots of good food, artwork, and vendors so be sure to check them out too.

    Bands I would recommend seeing:

    The Obvious:

PJ-- The original  "jam band". 'Nuff said.

DMB--I've seen them live many times and they always put on a good show. Listening to DMB live is a whole different experience then listening to them on the radio or on a cd. It will be kind of bittersweet if I make it since this will be the first time I've seen them since LeRoi died.

Beastie Boys--C'mon. Its the Beastie Boys!

    The maybe not so obvious

Ben Harper, Coheed and Cambria, Toadies, Lily Allen, Flogging Molly, Reckless Kelly, Citizen Cope, and Asleep at the Wheel.

  • It reminds me of Lollipalooza...I'm not sure if you've ever been. Sounds like the same thing though (bands, vendors, etc). I will see PJ, DMB, BB (I've always wanted to see them and darn it if my brother got tix before and didn't invite me!). I'll for sure see Ben Harper and Andrew Bird. I like Citizen Cope, Toadies. I'm going to have to see the schedule to decide on the rest though. Surprisingly, never have been a huge Flogging Molly fan. They have a great lineup this year! ?I'm just really excited! :) We are staying at the Hampton in, on 2nd and Jacinto. Should be pretty close...hopefully a shuttle will be somewhere near there. Well, I went to a 4 day concert last summer with my hubby, and so I sort of know what to pack from that bruhaha! :) It was hot and I was exhausted by the end of the day. I don't know if I will make it to any of the after parties for ACL! I'm getting too old for this stuff. ;) Thanks for the help!?
