Travel to Kiev, Ukraine?

Has anyone been? What airliner(s) did you fly? Where is the best place online to find good deals on airfare? Any sites? Or is it best go directly through the airlines sites? We have a place to stay, just trying to figure out how to get there for the least amount of money :)

Re: Travel to Kiev, Ukraine?

  • There's no easy answer to this. ?DH and I are going to Kiev after spending some time in western Europe, so we've done some research. ?We're flying Wizz Air, one of the budget airlines that fly to Kiev from various other cities in Europe. ?If you'll be spending some time at all in western Europe, before and after visiting Kiev, you'll have more options. ?I believe there're some other budget european airlines that fly there, like Ryan Air or Germanwings.

From the US, the only direct flight seems to be from JFK to Kiev, on AeroSvit. ?Ukraine International Airlines is the largest airline and has many flights between Kiev and major cities in Europe. Check their website. ?They probably have flights to the US with a layover in Vienna or Amsterdam.

    A good website is skyscanner.com. ?

You can also use the other "usuals" like kayak, expedia, orbitz, etc.?

  • I've been to Kiev a few times, and I've flown different airlines each time! I searched all over and the best deals I found were on the typical travel sites like priceline, orbitz, travelocity, etc. Only once was it cheaper to go directly through the airline. That was with Continental, and it was only cheaper through them because of the particular itinerary we needed.

Anyway, I know that it's not entirely helpful. But you'll probably just have to shop around, and hopefully you'll land on a good deal!! Have a great trip. Kiev is my favorite place.
