My wife and I have our consultation with the fertility doctor in 2 1/2 weeks. I've already had one child and know I won't have much trouble getting pregnant.
What's the process like?
Re: Insemination?
thats a tough question to answer because there are many options and paths to follow.
My wife and I are using an unknown donor (frozen sperm from a bank) and will begin with unmedicated IUI's which is where the doctor will place the sperm directly into the uterus (bypassing the cervix) just before/during ovulation (or, thats the hope!). Our process has been simple....we had a consult with the fertility clinic at the beginning of the month. did some bloodwork to make sure DW was healthy. And now we just wait until she gets a positive on an ovulation predictor. When that happens, we'll make an appointment for an IUI the next day. the IUI itself is a quick and easy procedure.

Ditto ctbride. There are a lot of ways to go about getting pregnant.
The bare bones are that you track your ovulation, and when it comes - you inseminate.
Some people do IUI's at the doctor's office, some people just do it at home with the kind of syringe you use to give a baby medicine, some people go through a doctor and use fertility drugs and have ultrasounds and all kinds of other stuff.
Your doctor will hopefully go over the options with you. Have you done any reading? If not, I highly recommend picking up The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy for Lesbians by Rachel Pepper and/or Stephanie Brill's book New Essential Guide to Lesbian Conception, Pregnancy and Birth. Both cover all the ins and outs and what to expect.

Thank you both very much!
I haven't read those books but will definitely run to the bookstore during my lunch hour and check them out. The only reading I've done so far has been from our Dr's website and from the sperm banks website.
