Dog Behaviorist

Hi Ladies,

I don't really post much anymore since I got married but I was wondering if anyone had a rec for a dog behaviorist in the area. Obviously I know where to find a trainer, but people on the pet board said a behaviorist is better for the issues we are having.

Thanks!!

Re: Dog Behaviorist

  • Sorry, I don't have any recs, however, I have to say your dog is adorable!!!   Big Smile  S/He looks just like our Max.
  • Thank you! :) He is a he (Gus).
  • We took our pugs to the Petsmart in Chesterfield and Rachel was their teacher. She is great. I am not sure of her title, if it's a dog behaviorist or trainer. She could set up private lessons, or you could do group lessons. Has your dog been to school yet?
  • yes he has been to school. He has an issue with getting his teeth brushed and his nails trimmed and they said on the pet board a behaviorist would be better then a trainer.
  • Lots of dogs have issues with their feet being touched.  Paws are their means of escape.  DH used to have a dog like that.  He had to be muzzled when he got a nail trim.

I do Weimaraner rescue so I will see if we have access to a behaviorist.  It is NOT the same thing as a trainer, so don't ask someone at Petsmart.

  • We used PetsMart for training. You could probably call them and they would give you a behaviorist referral.
