I don't think that you are paranoid and I am sure when I am a mom, I will be more nervous about things like this than I am now. I don't blame you or think that you are paranoid at all.
However, pp is right that there will be things like this going on for the rest of your life. It might be best to learn the facts, take precautions and not get overly worried. My mom was a total worry-wart and it freaked us out as kids sometimes. I vow not to be like that when I have kids bc it affected us.
Krista, i agree about the worry-wart thing...i just really think this swine flu thing could be more serious than everyone else thinks. ?in general i tend to be pretty calm with baby
obama does not recommend closing schools due to the regular flu, or ask congress for 1.5 billion in emergency fund to??build drug stockpiles in case of a pandemic with the regular flu.
I still have to leave the house though and come to work, go to the grocery store, eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc and expose myself to germs all through the day. Unfortunately, I cannot change my lifestyle because of these concerns. I can take all necessary precautions though.
I learned a lesson when my nephew was exposed to ecoli as a toddler. His parents narrowed it down to either when they went to Sesame Place or when they ate out at Chili's but they could actually never determine where it came from. The ecoli destroyed his intestinal tract and he spent a couple of years in Children's Hospital and Dupont. He was on dialysis when he was a toddler and had to have a kidney transplant. He will be on antirejection meds for the rest of his life and will undergo labwork every couple of months for the rest of his life. It has been a hard life for both my nephew and his parents. However, his parents did nothing wrong and could never have forseen this happening. Sometimes we are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
anna- that is so sad, i am so so sorry
