Poll: Are you a good speller?
It seems like people either have the spelling gene or dont.
I, personally, was Hooked on Phonics. I am a pretty good speller. DH, however, constantly asks me "how do you spell.......?" and usually its a word that seems pretty elementary to me (ie- contagious is the latest example).
Are you a good speller?
Re: Poll: Are you a good speller?
I consider myself to be a good speller
though the same words trip me up all the time - definitely and sincerely - it's a mental block or something!
I just had to look them up to be sure I was right - and I was!!
Yes, I am, and DH often asks me how to spell things, or proofread their literature for the company before it is sent to the printer.
Alyssa--definitely is one that I always have a hard time with too....that's really weird, I wonder why that is!!
At work and when I was in school, absolutely. Here, not so much b/c I don't take the time to proof. I agree though that you either have it or you don't. My father, who is one of the most intelligent people I've ever met, was a horrible speller. He was always asking my mom how to spell things. That said, I don't think spelling and intelligence are necessarily connected.
