tennessee women's care

Question for those of you who are patients at TWC.  Does your doctor deliver your baby, or do they do a rotation and you get whoever is on call at the time?

Re: tennessee women's care

  • Congratulations on expecting!!  That is wonderful!

My doctor, Dr. Haney with TWC, delivered me.  However, she did rotate me among 2 other doctors - Dr. Morgan and Dr. Blake- just in case for some reason I went into labor on a day that we was not able to deliver me.  She made it her priority to deliver my babies, but she did make sure that I saw Drs. Morgan and Blake at least once so that I'd feel comfortable if they had to deliver me.

I really did like TWC.  Let me know if you need any "reviews" of any of those 3 doctors - they are all wonderful, but have varying "styles."

  • My OB, Dr. Oldfield, performed my c-section. I happened to go into labor on her night on call, but if it had been another night (I went to L&D at 11pm) I assume the OB on call would have done the middle of the night checks on me rather than Dr. Oldfield. As it was, I didn't deliver until 3pm the next day and she was able to come over and do the c-section.  When I had some bad cramping in the middle of my pg, I couldn't get in to see Dr. Oldfield on an immeidate basis and instead saw one of the other doctors in the group. Otherwise, I always only saw Dr. O.
  • Ditto what Dawn said. My last pregnancy was complicated by complete placenta previa so I knew I would require a c-section and the concern was bleeding. When I went in for a normal check-up and was having regular contractions Dr. Oldfield sent me to the L&D triage and said that the doctor on call would perform the c-section that night if necessary. Luckily everything stopped with meds and I went home 4 days later and on bed rest managed to go until my scheduled c-section which Dr. Oldfield performed. My son was induced so the induction was scheduled at her convenience.
