Because I'm a Newbie...

What do all the acronyms stand for? Is there a legend somewhere?

 TTC - Trying TO Conceive

But all the others...

Re: Because I'm a Newbie...

  • If you scroll down the left-hand side of this page, under "my boards" click on "Bump Board Glossary" that has alllllllll the TTC acronyms ever thought of by a human being listed, haha.  We don't use a lot of them on the regular here, but these are real common in our chats:

TWW - 2 week wait (before you test to see if you're preggo)
    RE - reproductive endocrinologist
AF - Aunt Flo aka period
IUI - intrauterine insemination (they way many of us are TTC)
BOTB - babies on the brain Smile
BRU - Babies R Us store
BBT - basal body temp (some people use temperature as an ovulation tracking tool)
    CD# - cycle day 1, 2, 3, etc
    AI - artificial insemination

Some non-TTC ones that we use here are:

    HTH - hope that helps
PITA - pain in the @ss
    ITA - I totally agree
    GTG - get together
FWIW - for what it's worth
    DW/DP - dear wife/dear partner

    HTH! Wink

p.s. Can you tell Cecilia's out tonight, and I'm home alone and bored? Stick out tongue

Also....do you want to introduce yourself? Tell us a little about you.  You don't have to share your full name or anything too personal, but help us get to know you.  We're a really friendly group and we like newbies. :-)

  • Haha!  Sorry about that...  I'm so used to posting on TK that I didn't think to introduce myself.

My name is Shannon, DW is Jessie.  We live in Southern California and just got our DP last month.  We had our reception this past weekend.  I have a 5 year old daughter (Lou/Alila) from a previous relationship.  DW and I are ready to have our first child together.  We love going out to the desert to ride our quads...

Anything else you can think to ask, go ahead, I'm pretty much an open book.

  • Welcome Shannon!  I'm J, my wife is K.  K hates her life being on 'the web' but if you get know me, you'll learn our names ;-)  We are originially from NorCal. I miss California A LOT! I grew up just south of San Jose, and then moved to Sacramento as an adult. K is from Sacto.  We're in NY now.  We're legally married, we were married in Provincetown, MA in 2007.  Welcome to the boards!

  • I'll introduce myself.

My name is Rikki. My wifes name is Julie. We grew up in Iowa, met while I was in highschool, I moved to CA (Sacramento) when I was 17, she followed we lived together in CA, then we moved up to Oregon, so I could go the Art Institute of Portland. Julie works in technical project managment, and is working towards a BA. I'm working on my AA. We were married in August, and are no where near TTC. Um anything else just ask, I'm a pretty open book, but I talk about Iowa and CA as 'home' so I thought I'd clarify so you didn't get confused. We have an Oregon DP, and are getting married in Iowa later this summer. :-)

We live in Maryland - near DC.  I am a medical social worker and L is a government contractor.  We have twin boys who will turn 3 years old in 3 weeks - Grayson and Carter.  I carried the boys and got pregnant after 9 tries over 19 months.  We aren't having any more kids! :)

  • Hi! I'm a newbie here too!  I responded to a post a few days ago with a question about kids and included a little info about myself... My daughter is almost 3, my girlfriend's daughter is 2.5. Mine from a hetero relationship, hers with a partner and a donor. We have been dating 9 months, I know, big deal right:) but I have to say I have NEVER been happier and as I've come out to friends it's been well received and a few "well it's about time."  We live (separately:) in the greater Seattle area (where it's sunny today!!!:) and are working towards integrating as a family...trying to take things slow and make it right for the kids since neither of us want our kids to have to go thru another breakup.  Someday we hope to have at least one more kid.  We are outdoor nuts and have been trying to narrow our list of things/places we want to see this summer to fit the number of weekends we will have available!!!:)  I have to say I love reading the posts on this board, you all are such inspirational people.:)
  • Welcome to the board  I'm Angel and my wife is Jay. We live in Florida and are yet to be legally married. We both are students and love traveling. We are waiting until after we move (less than 2 years) and my wife gets her Masters (almost 4 yrs) before TTC but that doesn't stop me from having botb (babys on the brain).I can't wait to get to know you on the board.
