Green Coffee Pot Cleaning tip

If you have a glass coffee pot that is dingy from use try this to clean it.

Needed:
2 lemon wedges
2 Tbsp salt
1 handful ice cubes
1/4 cup cold water

Put these items in the coffee pot and squeeze the lemons and toss them in the pot too. Swish these around in the pot for awhile then take the lemons and use those to wipe the sides of the pot. The acidity in the lemon will remove any stains.

Rinse and voila!!! Like-new coffee pot :-)

To be ultra green you can use lemons that have been used in your iced tea-- reduce, reuse, recycle!

Re: Green Coffee Pot Cleaning tip

  • I'm totally gonna try this today =)  Writing it down now....
  • So funny that you posted this today.  I was making coffee this morning and thinking that I really needed to figure out a way to get the pot really clean.
  • Let me know how it goes for you guys.

This is a trick I learned during a summer gig working at a British Tea Parlor

Yeah, I know, me waitressing has GOT to bring a smile to a few faces. I was horrible, but luckily my sense of humor got me a few tips here and there :-)

Anywho, those Brits sure know how to clean a tea/coffee pot :-)

  • Oh I love "green" tips, when we get settled into our new house I am full force going as green as can be!

This is what we did in the restaurant business when I waited tables.  We used the lemons that were cut for iced tea but unused.
