Ugh hate.my.diaper.bag!

So I have the skip hop duo and it's so freakin small I'm lucky if I can get a days worth of stuff in there.  Jesse had the diaper dude and it's kind of small too plus whenever he goes anywhere with Sawyer he just grabs mine(even though his is ready to go).  So I checked out the skip hop double, it's made for a double stroller but it looks huge.  So I'm going to try to return both our bags to upgrade into one.  BUT I have no tags for either bag, but they are both still on my registry.

So question is, has anyone returned stuff to BRU for an exchange without tags and would they accept it? I'm hoping because they are still listed as bought on my registry they won't give me too much of a headache.  I'm ready to put up a fight though because I can't deal with these bags and combined they are worth over $100!

  • Just so you know, you will downgrade to smaller bags as he gets older since you won't need EVERYTHING a kid requires?   Also, what are you packing in that bag?  I have the skip hop and I filled it up, but never busting out.   Things like extra outfits or more diapers then I need, I keep a little stash in the car.   That way I didn't fill the bag or drag it around.   A diaper bag is never going to hold everything you need for a whole day (like if you are going to a friends house), so maybe a medium sized ll bean bag with zip will help (or some other type of bag).

  • Hey Heather,

I agree with Sue in that you won't always need so much when he gets just a little older, so I'd keep the smaller bag...but I love my bag.  Its the Do It All diaper bag from Land's End.  Here's some reviews of it:

Problem being...I can't find it on the website...I would call them directly and ask about it.  At $29.50, its a great bargain too.

  • I also have the Do It All Diaper Bag from Land's End, and love it!  I went through about 5 different bags in 18 months before I settled on this one.  It is big enough to pack all I need for an entire day out with Emma, and will be sufficient for both her stuff and the new baby's when he arrives.  I highly reccommend it!
  • I had the skip hop duo bag and hated it too!!!!  I didn't think it opened wide enough to see what was inside.  Now that we are expecting #2, I went out and got the double.  I'm hoping I will like it!!!
  • I don't have that diaper bag, but I would suggest keeping the small bag for when you are going out but don't need a lot.  I have the same diaper bag in two different sizes and I almost always use the smaller one.  I hate carrying the big one and I'm so glad that we got the smaller bag.

I carry a few diapers, wipes, changing pad, 2 bottles, an 8oz bottle of water (to mix the formula), one extra outfit and onesie, bibs and burp cloths.  I throw my wallet in there and I'm good to go.  I can put it under the stroller or shopping cart and it isn't in the way at all.

  • Good luck if you decide to make the returns. I have found that as long as you are rational and not demanding people are willing to bend the rules on things like that :-)
  • The Do it All Diaper Bag from Lands End is great.  I have it as well and can't recommend it enough. I originally started out with a messenger style Diaper Bag and quickly realized I could barely fir anything in it.  My sister ended up buying the Do it All bag for me b/c she had it for her kids and said  it was so great.  M.J. is 16 months and I still use it all the time, it's the only bag we use.  You can fit a ton of stuff in it if you need to and it opens really wide so you can see everything within the bag very easily.

Good luck returning the other bags!

  • I don't see why BRU wouldn't take them back but they may not give you full credit for them without at least the tags.  We have the LL Bean Diaper Bag and love it.  I pack a lot of stuff b/c we are constantly on the road and never know what will be needed.  But I am looking for a smaller bag for this summer.  I figure I won't need all those big, bulky winter clothes soon or jackets so a smaller bag should work for diapers, wipes, food and a few toys.Wink

  • I have an older version of the do all diaper bag from lands end.  I bought it when I was pg with Syndey because I thought I'd need what I consider to be a HUGE diaper bag with two.  I can't imagine using it for one.  But that's just me - I hate hauling around a ton of stuff.  I use the Little Tripper for two now - except if we're gone an entire day - and even then I grab it and then fill up an llbean tote with toys and other entertainment things for the kids.  Maybe it's the set up of the bag that isn't working for you?  Or maybe I'm just more minimalistic when it comes to how much crap I'm going to haul around - and even so I still feel like I'm bringing a ton of stuff no matter where I go.  I think eventually you'll figure out what you need and what you may have thought you needed but never really used etc.
  • oh man...BRU is tough in my opinion, I go to the one in west hartford, and they are kinda jerks.  I have tried to return stuff on my registry with tags on it and they don't care, they still give the lowest sale price, which is irritating.  gl!
