Savannah Question

H and I decided to go to Savannah for our anniversary and I was wondering if anyone had stayed at The Eliza Thompson House.

We're only going to be there for 3 nights but only one of those we'll be staying here so we don't spend as much money so if anyone has any suggestions as to hotels in the area..that would be helpful

Re: Savannah Question

  • when will you guys be there? ?I'm going to be in Savannah/Tybee Island May 18-25 ?:)
  • we're going in late on the 15th and coming back sometime on the 18th
  • oh man- we'll just miss you then! ?I was going to say I'd snap a few pics of you guys on the beach for your anniversary gift if you'd be there at the same time!! ?
  • I've never stayed there, but I have heard it's wonderful.

With regards to other hotels - are you dead set on staying in a particular area (the historic district, midtown, etc?)

If you aren't, then there's a Holiday Inn on Abercorn St. in the Midtown area that we've stayed at several times.  It's clean, it's in a safe part of town.  I think rooms right now are about $70/night?  I would recommend it.  From that hotel, you'd just drive about 10 minutes straight down Abercorn to the historic district/River Street area.

  • Steph - What time will you be getting there? Depending on the time, maybe we could at least meet up for lunch or something.

We're not too picky where we stay. The Inn I mentioned is in historic downtown so we'll be in that section for a night. As long as it's clean and safe..that's all that matters. i'll look into that holiday inn..thanks!

  • We stayed at the Hampton Inn on E. Bay Street. It was great because right in front are the steps down to River Street, and we could either walk or take a trolley to everything. We didn't move our car the whole time we were there.
  • Lauren and I will be there towards the end of May. I have been there many times, this will be her first!!!  I have stayed at that Holiday Inn someone mentioned...not bad...I forget where we're staying this time, I'll ask her since she made the reservations.
  • How long of a drive is it? ?We'll be leaving that Monday morning to drive so I bet we won't be there by lunch time. ?:(
  • According to Mapquest the drive from my house in Prattville to Savannah would be as follows:

Total Estimated Time: 5 hours 46 minutes
    Total Estimated Distance: 348.32 miles

Lauren and I will be driving to Savannah from Charleston. I would really like to have photos done of me with my two kids, they're grown of course, but Mamas like photos at any ages. Getting them both together at the same time would take an act of congress. :(
  • it's about 283 miles from Auburn. We're thinking of leaving around 2-3 on the 18th. I'll send you my number on FB just in case

?oh man, if you could convince them to come I'd do pictures for you guys in a heartbeat! ?I adore beach shots anyway but this would be an added bonus ?:):):)?

  • We went to Savannah for our 1st anniversary.  We stayed at the 1895 Inn (#1 on tripadvisor.com) and had the best time! The owners are amazing and anything they recommend is awesome! We loved our anniversary meal at the Olde Pink House and also loved eating at the Six Pence Pub.
