For those of you who have sold, or are selling your house, what is the commision that you negotiated with the realtor listing the house. I had a quote of 6% this week, which seems high in this market. What are your experiences!

We paid 5% when we sold our house last June.

We paid 5% in dec 06, and dec 03.  I think 6 is high as well.

We just listed our and we are paying 4% ......
From what I have just read we got a great deal!

Thanks everyone, I thought 6% was a little on the high side...I am shopping for a new realtor as we speak.

When I bought my condo in 03 it was 6% and it was 5% when I sold it in 06.

My friend just listed her house and for her it is 4%.

4% - and when the seller showed up with no realtor...I negotiated to 3.

my DH (who is a real estate atty) says 6% is 'standard.'  That said, our realtor is getting 5%.
