I sent you a pm a few days ago and just sent you another one.... just in case you want to meet up at the HOG after party! We're actually making a weekend of it and staying at the Hyatt (100 bucks for 2 nights on priceline. Woo hoo!!)
Re: MrsZ
Thanks for paging me... For a couple months I actually got an e-mail when I had a PM, then it went away
I replied.... the gist is... Rock on with the first bit of news, and I sent my cell so we can meet up at Fluor Field!
Hey our project wound up ending early, so we just ran to Fluor field and had a sandwich and left. We were out of there by 12:15 (which was before the party was even supposed to start.)
We were just hot and sweaty and tired and disheartened from the whole experience, and we were ready to get home!
I hope you guys had a good time!
No problem at all! Our project ended up being an hour from Greenville ?!? so we didn't get in until 1 and we were also hot, sweaty and tired so we also ate and left. Someday soon we'll get back together!
HOLY cow, an hour from Greenville? Wow.
Totally flameworthy but IMHO the project we were on was a TOTAL waste... We walked around a neighborhood and picked up garbage out of HOME OWNERS yards. And in many cases, the home owners sat on their porches and watched us or even jeered. It absolutely disgusted me. I will be much more selective about my volunteerism in the future.
Yeah, we ended up at some stables in Marietta, SC. We actually felt that our job was pretty helpful... There were literally 1000 GE employees doing various jobs around the ranch. Chris' department was assigned to paint the railings around the stables. I dont pretend that they did a fantastic job (read: lots of paint where there shouldnt have been paint) but it would have taken a normal crew a month to do what we did in 4 hours. I did have that twinge of volunteer remorse when everyone left to take a group photo and didnt come back.... about 5 of us had to stay an extra half hour to finish and clean up. Otherwise it seemed to be a useful. I think that the farm is for disabled kids.... but i agree that I would have been pretty ticked about your job. Sounds like they ran out of things to have you do.
