ridiculously stupid question of the day...
if I need a piece of cloth to be 90 x 102, how many yards do I need? Is 5 correct/enough?

Re: ridiculously stupid question of the day...
I wish I could tell you for sure, but I think 5 is not going to be enough.
I am not sure they even make fabric in 90" widths. If they do, I think you'll need about 9 yards.
BUT...take this answer with a grain of salt. I like to pretend I know, but I am really clueless when it comes to sewing. I can sew a straight line, but that is about it so far.
yeah, that sounds about right.
I am soooo underqualified to try to figure this chaise lounge problem out. I can't find a dadgum slip cover for under $300 ANYWHERE. >=
What are the dimensions of the cushion?
I assume you have found 90 inch wide fabric???
If so and you need 102 inches in length, then you'd divide 36 into 102 since there are 36 inches in a yard. If all the above is correct you should need 2.83 yards. If you're getting it at a fabric store the ladies there can help you if this makes no sense.
I think this is right...where is Lydia when you need her???
this sounds right
thanks ladies!!! I ended up getting clever and going to homegoods and bought a super thick, high thread count king sized sheet set (only cost $30!). Staple gun in hand, I managed to make a slipcover for it without having to sew or anything, and it's a really pretty goldish-tan color that coordinates well with my reddish brown leather couch. It looks really good! You would never, ever know that it started its life out as bed sheets.
Since the sheets are really thick, they creased well around the corners and were a little more stiff than what I expected... probably uncomfortable to sleep under but it was perfect for what I used them for.
:-D
I'll PIP as soon as I get a good pic.
Ok, I am totally embarassed. After reading this, I realized that I calculated feet.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not stupid...I was just at work at the time and couldn't force my brain to think the right way.
**Runs and hides her red face**
Don't feel bad. When I first read this post I was like because, yes, I am that stupid that I didn't know how to calcuate inches and yards. I forgot that there are 36 inches in a yard (thanks Jane!). So I am now making my confession to everyone in nest land that I am horrible at math
But anyway, AM, I bet that looks great! I can't wait to see the pic.
well lets not forget that I had to post to the local boards in hopes that someone was better in math than me, and I didn't want to ask dh because I didn't want him to make fun of me :P?
Yeah, my husband knows better than anybody how horrible I am with numbers anyway. So I try to stear clear of asking him questions like this. lol
