Moms - Recommend your outdoor toys for kids.

This Saturday was so beautiful, we were outside on our deck and in the backyard all day.  Ava is obsessed with the outdoors, and we have a big swing/slide/adventure set (whatever you call those things) - but some of it is just too big for her and she's too little to be on it without one of us putting her back up on the slide, etc, etc, etc. and we can't do that all day long.

We have a gate on our deck and I wanted to get a couple of things for her to do up there.  I was thinking this water table http://tinyurl.com/24d3lu (they have one at daycare and she loves it) and I also want to maybe get this http://tinyurl.com/3p486z so she'd have a little table and workspace outside, plus when my friends' kids come over, it'll be nice place for them to sit.

Any outdoor stuff (other than swingsets and slides) that you have and you and your DC love?  TIA!

Re: Moms - Recommend your outdoor toys for kids.

  • I think I'm going to get a bubble mower and a pool for her. She never sits when outside and we're not fenced, so basically, all we play is tag, and I'm always it.

    Sidewalk chalk?

  • Duff - LMAO at "all we play is tag.  And I'm always it."  LOL
  • JT has a small picnic table, a little tricycle that he can pedel with, a lawn mower to push, some trucks etc... along with the new purchase of the weekend - a basketball hoop.

As if it is not hard enough to get him back inside it is even harder now. If he could have slept with his basketball I think he would have.

  • bubble machine,

radio flyer scoot about (target.com shows availably) w/ bike helmet (the helmet itself is a game),

    sidewalk chalk,

    sidewalk paint,

water table (read the step2.com reviews on the one you linked above)

     Step 2 Tune Car

  • DS has sidewalk chalk, a car (flinstones style), a plastic lawnmower that he loves to push around and pretend he's mowing the lawn.  He also LOVES bubbles, but he can't do them himself, just watches. He has a couple balls (the big ones you see in the grocery store) that he likes to throw around and chase after too.  We also have a kiddie pool for when it gets really hot.
  • Oh, and DH wants to get a sandbox for him this year too.  He loves digging.
  • We have the bubble mower.  We had a picnic table and a smaller slide that he could do himself.  We just got rid of both of those since we got him the bigger playscape and he can do it himself.  Various Balls and Trucks.  The little dog that blows bubble when you push the button.  His favorite thing to do though despite all of the toys is walk up and down my flower beds.
  • Thanks for the ideas!  SIDEWALK CHALK! Good one!   I knew you guys would have some ideas. . .
  • We have:

     Slide (Little Tikes)

Step 2 picnic table (with umbrella)

Neat and Tidy Cottage from Step 2 (like it but the roof is low so he'll probably outgrow it next year)

    Sand table from Step 2

Riding car with handle for you to push

Radio Flyer wagon (can seat two kids)

Radio fFyer trike (a little big for him)

Radio Flyer ride on toy (still need to assemble)

Basketball hoop (still need to assemble - starts at 3 feet high)

    Bubbles

    Chalk

    Trucks/cars/push toys

    Pinwheels

    Toy lawnmower

And yes, we have a lot of crap!
