Question regarding vacation...

Hi ladies. We are traveling from CT to the outerbanks with our two and a half year old and plan on stopping for the night after 7 or 8 hours. This would bring us to the Chesapeake or Norfolk area. Any suggestions for which city would be better to get a hotel? Or maye a nearby area? Also, anyone know any fun fun activities for a toddler? Thanks so much.

Re: Question regarding vacation...

  • I would think Chesapeake would be a better city to stop in since the rates will possibly be better and it's less crowded than Norfolk.

Although, honestly by the time you've made it that far, why not continue the 1 hour or so to the OBX?  I would maybe suggest stopping further up in maybe Richmond or Williamsburg if you really wanted to do an overnight.

  • I think the pp has a good idea with staying in Williamsburg.  Or travel a little bit further and stop for the night in Virginia Beach.  What toddler wouldn't want to play in the gigantic sandbox we call the beach, take a stroll along the boardwalk or rent a family bike and take a ride.  Virginia Beach also has a great aquarium with an IMAX theater.  And now that the weather is getting nicer, there's lots of free outdoor concerts happening right on the boardwalk.

(Geez, I sound like a commercial.  I swear I don't work for the VA Beach tourism board.  I just moved here last year and am excited for all the summer events coming up.)

Whatever you decide, have a great vacation!
