We're back and what a weekend!

Just got back from Tally and am exhausted. My meeting with my professors went pretty well and I have a few small lose ends to tie up that I'm planning on knocking out this week. We got to hang out with our old friends and it was great to catch up with them.  One couple had a baby boy four months ago and he is precious. Another friend got "hooded" and is officially a "Doctor".

Here the crazy stuff (and a small vent): Our house was a mess. The couple who was suppose to buy it and decided 10 days before closing not to buy the house left it in a mess.  Here's the short list: dirty dishes in the dishwasher, pots and pans left in the cabinets, silverware in the drawers, boxes of random stuff in the garage, trash in the back yard, crayon markings and holes in the walls, medicine and other bathroom stuff under the sinks, stains on the carpets, baby poop on the wall, etc, etc, etc. It took DH, me, and three of my amazing friends seven hours to clean the house and get it back into shape. DH made four trips in his truck to the landfill and we still left stuff at the curb.

We are so tired and are 100 million percent convinced never to deal with renters.  Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Oh Wow... It seems you had a long adventure. Though Welcome Back we missed you!
  • Welcome back you were missed. Sorry that you had to find your house like that and you had to waste 7 hours cleaning it.

  • That's a real bummer about your house. I don't understand how anyone can rent a property and leave it in such disarray. At least the rest of the weekend sounds like it went well =)

  • OMG I can not believe how people treat things that do not belong to them.  How sad is it that people would leave their belongings behind.  I am glad the rest of your trip went well.  Hopefully you will get your property sold soon.

  • Thanks guys. We were shocked as well because we have never done that to a rental property.  I'm about to write thank you notes to my friends who helped out. We also treated them to dinner and drinks that night. We could not have done it without them.
  • Glad the meeting went well, but sorry about the disaster your house was left in!  That's what sucks about renters, especially in a house that is far and you can't "drop in" often to check up on.  But glad the damage could be repaired (with some elbow grease).

  • Welcome back hun! Sorry about those idiots.
  • Oh my!!! Sorry to hear about the renters from HELL!! I really cannot stand some renters b/c seriously...why would someone ruin a property like that.  whenever any of my friends move out of a rental property they hire a cleaning person to come in and wipe down every nook and cranny and they retouch the paint.  i think that's just manners.

Yeah, they said they would do the same which we greatly appreciated.  But they were just lying because of the condition the house was left in. We had planned to do light repairs, landscaping, etc. because they said they would hire a cleaning service. So sad.

  • Grrr...the renters really left you with a mess. I'm glad you got it all cleaned up. Good luck as you move forward!

I'm glad you got to catch up with friends, though, and had an otherwise good time. I'll be thinking about you this week!
