so excited! so excited!

I got a jury summons today!  I have always said that I would love to get picked to be on a jury.  I find the whole court thing facinating.  And the best part is that it is during my week off in June...didn't have any plans for vacation so I get to do it!

I am probably the only person that would be jumping up and down with excitement about being called for jury duty.  I might actually have to go shopping for something to wear....what do you wear for jury duty?

Re: so excited! so excited!

  • That is exciting!!

I see jurors around town all the time, it looks like people don't dress up too much for it.  When DH had it he wore work clothes at first (dress shirt and pants) but I think by the end of the week it was jeans because he was mostly waiting around for a case.

BTW we were in your neck of the woods, we stopped at Wegmans on our way to and from NY this weekend.

That's cool!  Although I really don't like going to Wegman's.  I love the store (they always have the hard to find ingredient that we need) but in the produce section it is cobblestone.  The sound of the carts (50-100 of them!) running over them drives me bonkers!

  • I had jury duty last summer.  I spent two days sitting in a room with no A/C in July reading a book.  I hope you see more action than I did.

You are supposed to wear business casual. No shorts or tank tops.

I know, right?  I was thinking of you and Lesli over the weekend with both those Bears wins.  People are not happy up here in WB/S!

  • I just wore business casual stuff. I was excited too. I was called for civil (I would never want to do criminal court).  Part of me was excited because I got to do jury duty and the other part bc I got extra paid time off work (my old employer paid for jury duty up to a few weeks because they felt it was civil duty)

i just got done sitting on a trial for 2 weeks in a jury........it was interesting, but i am so glad it's over and done with.  2 weeks in a jury box is a long time!!!!!!!!
  • I got called for jury duty last year and I was kind of excited about it too :)  I was disappointed that I didn't get picked for the jury.  I just wore business casual but there were a lot of people there in jeans and tee shirts. The summons said what was not allowed in court (shorts, tank tops) so yours might too.
  • With the jeans and t-shirts, it all depends on the person in charge. When i was on jury duty, if you didn't come in business attire, you were sent home to change and yelled at. I was behind a couple guys checking in that got berated for not following directions and dressing appropriately, then sent home and told that they WILL be returning.

I never got on a trial. The closest I go was in the judges chambers and then they settled (it was a bar fight that got the one guy's nose busted.) The other one, me and 2 other guys were told we weren't needed and got to go home at lunch and didn't have to come back. Dh served Federal about 2 years ago and between his work paying and the money he go for serving (he did it for about a week) he made out like a bandit. I guess it all depends on where you live.

  • Haha yes you may be one of the only people I know to be excited....
Although DH was excited because he didn't have to go to work for a few days.....he did not like his old job.

Enjoy it, since it's your cup of tea, hope you get a good case that it will make a good experience.

If i were you i'd go a simple summery skirt, heels and a nice blouse.
