Re: BBBBOOOOOO!!!!

Yeah, I'm pretty predictable these days.  I go to work, come home and cookclean, work on the veggie garden and help out wit my niece. Noting too exciting!

It is definitely hot here.  They have the Macey too cold.  I feel like Goldilocks - too hot outside, to cold inside!

  • How are your raised beds doing?  Mine are built... just no dirt yet....

I hate being overly airconditioned, good luck with that.

The AC was MUCH better today.  We actually had teh sessions today - so lots of warm bodies in te rooms and lots of running up and down steps.

I have dirt in my beds - manufactured dirt.  I did the square foot garden  recipe of equal parts compost, vermicultie and peat moss.  I planted a square foot of shallots, 2 sq. ft of lettuce, 1 sq ft swiss chard, 1 sq ft mustard greens, 2 sq ft leeks and 6 sq ft carrots.  the shallots look great.  Everything else did nothing.  I reseeded last weekend - Nikhil says I have some lettice sprouts finally.

I put up my supports last weekend too.  Cheap conduit and rebar.  I have nylon netting to add to support the viney things. I have my seedlings ready to go in this weekend.  I need to harden them off and see who survives transplanting.....

I plan to do 2 each of 8 different tomato varieties.  And 2 each of 3 sweet pepper varieties.  And my broccoli and cucumbers.  The corn and melons I'll direct seed.  And as soon as I get bean innoculant, I'll plant those.

Nikhil is a bit scared of teh impending jungle he forsees.

  • I've heard about the sq ft gardening, let me know how you like it (once your plants start growing!  It all sounds delicious.

Did the wildflowers you planted last year come back?

The qhole aquare foot thing is new for me. I actually had done something similar - tight spacing of plants in limited room, add ammendments to the surface, and hand water. But I did the 4'x4' beds and used his soil mix and have a 1' grid. The surprise this tear was GRASS. We NEVER EVER EVER pkanted grass. But we got it all over the back yard this spring. The blue flax and Mexican hats came up. Still no new penstemons, scarlett flax, penstemons or globe mallow.

But I have plenty of darn mistard weed this year.  And teh darn silver nightshade came back in the front yard.  I hate that darn weed!

  • Blahh...I just got back in from Gallup.  I literally got home from Jamaica Saturday night, unpacked Sunday, RE-packed Sunday night, and left again on Monday morning.  I'm wiped out.  Hearing that you're HAPPY to be away from home makes me confused.  Stick out tongue
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

OMG ... Jamaica to Gallup is like different planets. In that case I would miss home, too.  I spend too much time in Gallup & Grants & Socorro.

I was just happy to get away from the office.  I needed a break from that insanity!

    How was the vacation Duff?

  • Ugg, weeds, sorry you have to deal with them.

Good to hear that a few of your flowers came back  :)
