XP: Orlando, FL! I need help!
I've blown my circuits and my mind is starting to go in circles! I'm toying with the idea of DH and I going to Orlando this summer and I'm trying to plan it out just to see the costs before we decide. ( I have about 4 other totally diff trips I'm pricing too..ugh) We would have 5 full days to do stuff while there and I can't narrow down what the best choices are since I haven't been there! What would be your top choices? These are the options I have (and I'm open to more suggestions)
- 1 day on the beach, of course! Which beach tho? Any suggestions??
- Disney, but which parks? Wouldn't do more than 2 days at Disney
- Universal - is it worth it? I'm thinking 1 day here
- Busch Gardens
- Gatorland - Just for the sake of seeing gators lol
- La Nouba Cirque de Soleil
- Blue Man group
- Nasa/Kennedy space center
Anything good there? Anything you'd totally bypass? Any additions? I'm so tired of looking at websites and it's all starting to run together so I thought I'd get some outsiders opinions. Gracias
Re: XP: Orlando, FL! I need help!
The only time we go to Orlando is for Disney, I've done the other stuff or stuff like it in other places. Disney is amazing and I don't think it'd be worth just 2 days for cost reasons and you just can't see enough. I love Disney and we go every year I'm just thinking for the more bang for your buck. Universal is a spot to see but not really a big deal. If you ever go to Vegas you can see the Blue Man Group and a show there. I'm a bit partial to Disney though and that's the only reason we go to Orlando. The one thing I want to do though is visit Discovery Cove. www.discoverycove.com
1. Cocoa Beach or Clearwater Beach. Cocoa is a few minutes closer, but Clearwater is much nicer, so I'd go there.
2. I really only love the Magic Kingdom. The other Disney parks I could do without. Some people really like Epcot, I'm not one of them though. Personally I'd do Magic Kingdom twice, but I also live here, if I only had one chance to go I'd do either Epcot or MGM.
3. Universal Islands of Adventure is right up there with Magic Kingdom for me, they're tied. LOVE all the rides there! Not a fan of regular Universal at all. That would be last on my list of things to do.
4. Busch Gardens has good rollercoasters, but I'd definitely pick Islands of Adventure over it. Remember I am spoiled because I live an hour from Tampa and 1.5 hours from Disney, I go to all the parks a lot, 5 times a year at least, so I might be jaded a bit.
That said, I have no desire to go to MGM, Epcot, or Universal. I LOVE LOVE Seaworld though!!! Awesome roller coaster, love the shows, that's one of my favorites.
5. I have gators in my backyard so of course I've never been to Gatorland. Never seen a Cirque show or the Blue Man Group. Went to Kennedy Space Center as a kid but don't remember it much so I'm no help there.
Have fun!
I would ditch Busch Gardens, Gatorland and Blue Man Group. Sea World is awesome, close to the other attractions you mentioned, and totally unique. Add that to the list.
I don't know what you're interested in...my husband and I are into history and we both loved Kennedy Space Center. It's rough in the summer, though...lots of sunny areas with no shade, and some crowded times sitting on a bus. If you can go on a comfortable day it is an amazing place.
If you like thrill rides, Islands of Adventure at Universal should be on your list. If you don't care about coasters and loops, I would skip Universal altogether and spend the money at Disney. All of the Disney parks are great, again it depends on what you like. Epcot is my favorite but I know people who hate it. I know people who love MGM but I don't think there's enough there to fill a whole day...just depends on your personality.
If you go to Kennedy/NASA, do Melbourne or Cocoa Beach. If you decide to come to Busch Gardens, head to Clearwater.
I live in St Petersburg and work in Tampa....lemme know if you have any other FL questions. Safe travels!
I live here and have no idea why anyone would want to visit in the summer -- crazy busy and insanely hot ... but I digress
My first note - you can't do all of that stuff in 4 days. If you are interested in Orlando don't go to the beach or space coast --- both are awesome and I recommend that but you don't have enought time- just do attraction stuff here. If I had 4 days I'd stay at Disney the whole time - there are 4 theme parks to choose from. I'm not a fan of Universal. Gatorland- no thanks. You can look for gators in the retention ponds around town and maybe spot one. Blue Man and Cirque are great shows.
