Re: scorpions

  • Yes. And I hate those little bastards. I saw one tonight, as a matter of fact.

Sprays can help with the nests already around your home. But scorpions are "air walkers". They are light enough to be blown around in a good wind (which we get quite often around here). So they can be blown onto your property and make their way in and around your home that way. It sounds crazy, but it's true.

Your best bet at keeping them out is to make sure your doors and windows are sealed really well. They can fit through an opening only as thick as a credit card.

If you want to keep a lookout for them in your yard, get a uv black light. When they have a blacklight shined on them, they glow in the dark. Makes them easier to see and easier to kill.

Your chances of coming in contact with them increases in the summer or when there is construction close by. In the summer, they're looking for cool places like the inside of your house and construction brings them all out of the ground.

  • The key to keeping scorpions out is to kill their main source of food...crickets.
