Romantic Weekends?

Hello Ladies!  Everyone here seems so friendly, and I'd love to see this board really pick up, so I thought I'd ask a question!

My husband and I are fairly new to South Carolina.  We moved here 6 months ago.  We are living in the Upstate  (Greenville to be exact.)

Where do you all recommend going for a fun, romantic weekend for just the two of us that wouldn't break the bank?  We probably wouldn't want to drive anymore than 3 hours each way.

There it is, I'd love for all of you to share your suggestions and experiences!

Re: Romantic Weekends?

  • Hi there!!
Within a 3 hour drive there are TONS of options for romantic weekends. DH and I are actually tossing around a few ideas for quick summer weekend get-aways.

    Here are a few options:
Asheville-specifically the Grove Park Inn (www.groveparkinn.com)
or somewhere in the Biltmore Estates Area. Both of these are a little higher price wise, but as with anything, there are always options to lower the cost.

Other options would be Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. You can get a hotel room or even rent a cabin for a pretty good deal -depending on exactly when you want to go of course.

If you drive up to Charlotte, there are a few places- Ballantyne resort, or something in that area.

Of course, within SC, there's always Charleston, and places like that.
I know this was a bunch of info. Hope it helps a bit though!!!

  • I'm not sure if you're into the "outdoors" but there is nothing more romantic for me than taking a long hike with my hubby and communing with nature. As long as at the end there is a a b&b and a bubble bath!

Try www.dupontforest.com it is beautiful!!! (should be about 40 mi from you) There are many waterfalls here and shorter trails for those "lazy" days. If you like this idea check out Brevard NC too.

There are so many small b&bs all along the mountains too, that are reasonable and romantic. Many will do extra things too- like fresh flowers, made to order breakfasts, champagne & chocolates, etc.
