Holy crap, my head is spinning. We were just given a trip to France from my FIL! It was going to be a surprise trip for he and my step-MIL, but he has been sick for the past week and decided today that they won't be able to go. The majority of the trip is non-refundable, so he'd rather us use it than it go to waste.
This is so bittersweet. I am so incredibly grateful that they are giving us this once-in-a-lifetime trip, but I truly truly truly wish they were able to go.
DH and I are both able to take off work, we got boarding reservations for the dogs ... everything seems to be working out, but I have never gone on such a last minute trip so I'm sure I'll forget something! And I'm at work right now, so I can't really get a start on packing.
This is what we're doing: The Luberon Experience
So surreal. I need to start a to do list ....
Re: Going to France. Tomorrow!
That sounds so amazing!
Good luck with the packing!
Thanks, guys! DH is excited b/c his dad is letting us take their SLR, so there will be LOTS of pictures
We got so lucky. My passport is still in my maiden name, but I was planning to get it changed before we leave for our Mexico trip at the end of July. I was literally AT the post office yesterday during lunch waiting in line to mail in the change documents, which include my maiden name passport. I decided the line was too long and left. Had I put it in the mail yesterday, I would be passportless and wouldn't be able to go!
Wow! That is so great! I feel sorry for your FIL for being sick! But it's great that the trip is being put to good use!

Wow! Have fun!
Pack warm clothes. I'm not sure where exactly you'll be, but I went to Paris and Strasbourg several years ago in April and all I thought was "springtime in Paris!" with skirts and sundresses, etc. yeah, no! It was freezing! I was not prepared.
Flying into Paris, but the majority of our visit will be in the Luberone, which is in southern France (Provence). Forecast looks like upper 70s all week. I will be packing stuff I can layer though!
