NPR had an interesting segment this afternoon in which people all over the U.S. called and emailed what their dream job is. It got me thinking and I thought I'd pose the question to ya'll: What is your dream job?
Re: Dream Job

Neat. Thanks, Claire! When I was younger I dreamt of being a supermodel, an ambassador, a TV anchor, a journalist, an astronaut....
But.....
I'd actually like to learn how to garden and get paid for it. Being in an office sucks, I want an outside job.
I have recently figured this out. I believe my dream job is, working with marine life and helping the environment. I love all marine life I just don't like to go in the ocean because of some of them. lol Does that make sense? I would also love to work with Dogs and cats some how.
P.S. I'm still looking for a marine organization to volenteer for. But I might just go and volenteer at the locate animal shelter.
A singer.
It was my dream as a child and growing up. I got very close to it. But its a crazy, difficult, life. I sing in weddings now to feed my urge
is it weird or was i the only kid that dreamt of being an attorney (not an very big imagination right?) then it evolved into being a supreme justice...now that would be a killer job for me!!
now as an adult...i would LOVE to be samantha brown. i mean how cool is it to be able to travel the world and get massages??
Great topic! My dream job would be to work with animals. In any capcity: as a Vet, with a Rescue organization, or even to train animals that will eventually be service dogs.
Thats my adult dream job. Now that I work....I hate work lol. I would LOOOVE to be Samantha Brown and eat in every country lol
right!? if samantha brown's job is EVER vacant i will def be applying for the position...eating, relaxing, and getting massage treatments all over the world, WHY would anyone say no to that??
Starring as Millie Dillmount in the Broadway Revival of Thoroughly Modern Millie or any starring role in a Broadway musical
Awesome Question!!
I agree with RedWing i always wanted to work with the marine animals but i didnt because i was scared of the other ones in the ocean lol am glad am not the only one that thinks like that.
And my second thing was the fashion business but didn't either lol.
Now am still trying to figure out what i want to do.
I would imagine that traveling 24/7 would get old after awhile... and how about the family? Yes your Dh will travel w/ you, but how about kids? They need stability! I'd say that would be my dream job in the summer, when I'm not a teacher.

for some reason i don't think she travels the entire year. i believe they travel only a specific # of weeks per season and push everything into one.
Glad you guys like this question. I always wanted to do something with nature and for a while wanted to be an astronaut (6th and 7th grade). Until a few years ago, I wanted to be the head of the Environmental Protection Agency. But now that I'm teaching, I can't think of anything else I want to do. My dream job is to be an environmental policy professor.
Although Samantha Brown's job does look pretty sweet!
My dream job right now, with my life the way it is and how family-oriented I am, is to be a SAHM. I would love to not have to work for money. I would love to start my own dog rescue organization. That's the first thing I would do if I won the lotto. I would spend the bulk of my time with my children when they are little, and then as they grow up and start elementary school and become independent, I would shift more attention to dog rescue.
My dream job in another life where I didn't care about having kids or living close to my family would be to live in Washington DC and be involved in politics. Not running for office, but working as a campaign manager, speech writing, and even analysis and commentary on cable news.
I agree that her job would be great and it would be a great job for me and DH b/c we aren't having any kids so we could travel ALL the time.
I still haven't been able to decide what my dream job would be. All I know is that I'm super passionate about cooking and would love doing that all day, but wouldn't want to work in a restaurant. Perhaps it would be more like being a private chef for a dignatary or the president. Or working in a test kitchen would be AWESOME too. I also really enjoy planning events but I dont' want to do catering or be an event planner. I know what I like and don't like, just can't really put my finger on what exactly my "dream job" would be.
If anyone can actually understand any of my bable, and have any ideas of what would be a good career path, I welcome any suggestions :-)

Believe it or not, I'm not all that sure yet, still working on it! LOL
A few weeks ago, Ivanka Trump came to the University to do an interview, it's a series where the school invites successful people over to answer questions from the students. She said something that really stuck with me:
If you love what you do, you will be successful. The people that are successful at their work, don't see it as work because they love it.
Then someone asked how do you know what that is?
She said that if you are one of those people that doesn't know, try different things. Sometimes it's easier to know what you don't like first. Sometimes we get complacent where we are, but to keep moving on to the next thing until we find it.
I know it's odd, Ivanka Trump is not the first person I think of when I think of a life guru, but it stuck with me. I figured a successful, young business woman might know a little thing or two.
So in the spirit of Ivanka, I'm starting to gear myself towards a different career choice and so far I'm really liking it. Crossing my fingers!
In my alternate universe, I would be independantly wealthy traveling the world and working on creative and charitable projects because I love to.
I really like that I can see why that stuck with you. It sounds like good advice I just might have to follow that myself.
