Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
I am probably going to get my teacher certification next year, and I was wondering if you had any info for me? I grad with a bachelor's in psychology in December...so what's next?
How long does it take for the certification? Can I become a teacher while I am working on the certification? Where do I go? How many classes is it?
I am really confused by all of this and haven't had time to do much research. I would like advice from those of you who have been here.
You can reply here or email me

TIA!!
Re: Teachers?
As long as you have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university all you have to do is choose what Alternative Certification program suits you best. I went through Texas Teachers. There are several in the area to choose from and most of the programs are very similar. Universities and community colleges host their own programs, so you could look there too.
Honestly, I would just try to find a specific program and ask them any questions you many have now. I know there is a paraprofessional at my campus who currently enrolled in the Alt Cert program through Region X and he told me the rules are changing quite a bit --- so maybe my advice and experience won't help much. I finished my Alt Cert last year.
The best bet would be to see if your University has a type of program you could do while you finish up your last semester in college. I graduated from UNT and I *think* there was something like that set up. You might want to look at the College of Education.
Hope that helps.
