Shutterfly Fans

I used this for my photo sharing and have gotten lots of great pictures uploaded by guests.  My question is- is there a way to save them to my computer at full quality?  I want to order some prints, but not through them.  If I just right click and save it to my computer, the quality isn't the same.  I feel sort of stuck ordering from them, and I would prefer not to.

Re: Shutterfly Fans

  • My photo sharing site didn't go over too well.

Just curious...why don't you want to order from them?

  • Have you clicked on the download this picture on the right side?

  • AJ- I don't see a "download" link anywhere?  Is it supposed to be there when I'm inside an album and looking at a specific picture?  I've got nothing.

JG- I just don't want to be stuck dealing with one website as the only place to ever access my pictures.  I'd like to save them and back them up on my external drive for myself (at full quality).  I want my own digital versions for things like my digital photo grames.  I also have a photo printer at home and want the freedom to print them myself here and there.  And once in awhile I want a picture fast.  I've had zero quality problems with places like CVS.  I love that I can upload them from work, and pick them up and have them in hand on my way home.

  • UPDATE- I was going to email them and ask them but I found it in their FAQ.  Looks like right clicking and doing a "save-as" is the only way.  Kind of a bummer because I know that isn't full quality.  Its okay, but not as great as true digital, and its harder to get them blown up.  Guess that's the price you pay for the uploading convenience.  I'll have to email guests directly if there are certain picks I want true copies of.
  • My understanding, and believe me, they never give a straight answer, but I believe that they do not allow for full res uploads to the site, takes up too much bandwith. I may be wrong and there may be a way around it, but that was the round about answer I got when I emailed tech support.

I have had prints made up from them during one of their offers, (all 4x6) and they all looked really good.
