Does anyone have this problem

My hair is falling out like crazy. I have switched shampoo's. Tried to de-stress since I know that sometimes causes it. What else can I do? I don't want to be bald by 30. Do they have womans rogain? lol Help!

Re: Does anyone have this problem

  • I had this happen a few months after my bariatric surgery. For me it was normal because my body wasn't getting the vitamins it once did. The body will usually dispose of the non essentials to survive first, hair, nails, etc. There are a few things you can do. First start taking a multi vitamin, and you might want to look into what your eating and making sure they are nutrient rich. Also buy Biotin. This is a special vitamin that is meant for the health of hair and nails. It won't make the hair you have now stop falling, but it will make the hair the regrows out stronger and healthier.  As for shampoo, I recommend buying Nioxin. It's great for falling hair. GL and hope it gets better.
  • this has been happening to me since i dont know when but i have so much hair!!! if my hair didnt fall id be cousin IT,  my hairdresser said it was nothing to worry about because i wasnt going bald its just the shampoo im using...

  • I haven't had this happen, but my aunt has struggled with it. Her doctor tested her thyroid and that was the problem. I don't know the details, and I'm not saying you need to rush to the doctor or anything, but try a multivitamin, new shampoo, and keep tabs on it. If it continues, maybe you could mention it to your doctor next time you go in for a regular appointment or something. GL!
  • This happens to me too, in phases.  About 2x a yr.  My hair dresser told me once that people shed just like animals do.  It could be your time to shed.  LOL  Yes, Rogaine for Women does exist, however, the moment you stop using it, all the regrowth will fall back out.  Once you start using it, you can't stop.  Nioxin (shampoo / conditioner) is suppose to help w/ hair loss too.

If you are very concerned about it, then I'd recommend visiting your dermatologist.  I did, and like pp said, they tested for thyroid, and everything was normal.  He was concerned.  He suggested Rogaine, but explained the effects (mentioned above).

  • My hairdresser told me that people shed, too. In fact she said the average person loses 100 strands of hair a day because I was concerned about the amount of hair I was losing, too. GL, hopefully it's just a phase :)
  • I heard that from someone also that we loose 100 strands a day.

  • I know this sounds weird.....but are you eating?

When I was in middle school I went through a "phase" where I was eating very little calories per day and my hair fell out in clumps. Gross I know.

It can also be stress. Stress does some crazy things to your body. Take care of yourself.

My family does have thyroid problems and both of my grandpa's were bald so I have that working against me also.

I'm try the multi Vitamin and switch shampoos and try and find a new job. lol I should get tested for my thyroid too.

    Thanks ladys
