Hello Ladies:) So my annual is coming up and I've been with my GYN for the last few years and although she's alright I never really see her (usually its the Nurse Practitioner) and I don't really have a relationship with her at all. Also, I think she's only a Gyno and not an OBGYN.
Since I'm probably going to start having babies in the next few years I figure I might as well start going to someone who I actually would feel comfortable going through that process with rather than someone that just does my pap smear and leaves.
Anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for someone in the East Orlando/Downtown Orlando area. I'd like someone that is friendly, helpful, and has a very familiar vibe. Not so doctor doctor if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance for the recommendations ladies.
Re: Recommend your OBGYN
I feel like I've been doing this recommendation a lot lately. I absolutely LOVE my OB/Gyn. It is actually a large group and they have three locations. www.obandgyn.cc If you want a very personal and sweet female doctor, I would recommend Dr. Asaria. Two of my other favorites are Dr. Bartfield and Dr. Durkee. And if you are thinking about babies...they deliver at Winnie Palmer which is a plus if you ask me. They always have a doctor there 24/7 too. Good luck.
ETA: They also do ultrasound and lab work right at the office, so you never have to go anywhere else. The ultrasound tech at the Oviedo office is the best!
I'm in the same hunt. I acutally don't have a obgyn/gyn in Orlando yet... :-/ BAD! I know.
I'm going to check out Dr. Fernandez but he's in Kissimmee. I know its far butI heard he's worth the drive. I don't think he does birth crontol though ...so that might not be attractive to most.
I don't have one to recommend- I currently go to one that a friend (who doesn't have kids) referred me to, and I am looking to switch because I don't like the hospital he delivers at, and I'm just not comfortable with one.
So, to avoid the mistakes I made, before you choose one, find out where they deliver, and try to talk to people who have had babies with them- this will save you alot of stress when you are ready for little ones!
Good luck!
Thanks for all the suggestions guys:) I'm not really looking to have little ones anytime soon but I figure now that I'm married and could possibly get pregnant anytime I might as well have a doctor that I actually know and feel comfortable with if I did get pregnant.
Looking into the pp recommendations and looking forward to hearing more:)
I go to Dr. Emma Fritz, Dr. Parmalee Thatcher, and Dr. Snow. Dr. Fritz has an office near Waterford Lakes, and Dr. Thatcher and Dr. Snow are in a downtown office. Finding a small practice was important to me. They are extremely nice, friendly, and knowledgeable and I was recommended to their practice by nurses who used to work for them.
Good luck!
I used to go to Dr Patel in Kissimmee and while I loved the nurse practioners I always saw, the wait time was usually HORRIBLE.
I finally switched to a closer office. Its called Loch Haven OBGYN and its on Princeton/Orange Ave. Right accross from the new big Florida Hospital. I think they deliver at all the area FH's though. Their site.
I so far have never had a long wait and most of the staff is great. I highly recommend using them. I have been there since last fall and so far so good. :-)
I use this office as well and love it there! Dr. Bartfield delivered my son @ Winnie. I usually see an np Paula Mix who is wonderful.
Dr. Zittel is the most amazing ob/gyn! I've been seeing him for years now and can't wait to have him take care of me when I start having kids.
3300 West Lake Mary Boulevard, Lake Mary, FL 32746
I also go to OB&GYN Specialists...the Winter Park office since 1997.
I will never switch gyn offices. Even if one day my insurance doesnt cover them, I still am going there. That is how much I like this practice. I see Dr. Weinstein (nurse practitioner) for most appointments. I always have a thorough appointment, and she takes time to answer my questions/concerns. Never 15 mins, rush rush. I like her professionalism and manner with me as a patient.
When I get pregnant one day, I will most likely be seeing Dr. Bartfield there for ob stuff.
