Help with Chicago visit

DH are thinking of going over a long weekend and catching a few Cubs games.

Would you recommend staying near Wrigley Field? Any hotel recs?

Plus we will be flying in, so no car. How is public transportation?

TIA!

Re: Help with Chicago visit

  • It might be easier to stay downtown and take the El to Wrigley. The Red Line drops you off right outside Wrigley, so it can't be any easier. Parking near Wrigley Field is a nightmare; most Chicagoans take public transportation since it's easier than fighting the neighborhood parking restrictions.
  • Depending on when you come, it might not be possible at this point to get a room near Wrigley.  I checked several hotels near Wrigley for rooms in May as several OOT friends are coming to visit.  The majority were booked.  I was able to find rooms at one for $449/night and I think there was a room available at another for $349.  You might be better off staying downtown and taking the el.  The red line takes you directly to Wrigley and the brown takes you 4 blocks south, but you can switch to the red.  Wrigley is very accessible via public transportation.  I saw some express buses from downtown to Wrigley last year, but I don't know anything about them.
  • the other ladies gave good advice.     i'd recommend staying downtown.
