Recommend a book for me...
I recently finished reading Oil by Upton Sinclar (There Will Be Blood was supposed to be inspired by this book, but it was nothing like it and I thought the movie was horrible, but the book was really good!)
And I am in the middle of Flesh and Blood by Michael Cunningham (the author of the Hours) but I really am not getting into it so I might just put it down.
Anyway...have any suggestions for some must reads? I mostly read fiction and I am not into the Harry Potter kind of books.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Recommend a book for me...
I just saw the movie the Kite Runner and now I really want to read the book. I loved the movie and I have heard the book is even better.
I also just read Middlesex for the Knot book club and really enjoyed that.

A few books that I have enjoyed recently are:
The Thirteenth Tale
Water for Elephants
One Thousand White Women
If you are into funny books then I would suggest
Bitter is the New Black or Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster
My all time favorite book is
The End of the Affair by Graham Greene.
I second kite runner (it's sad)
P.S. I love you was great, i laughed and cried a lot.
Eat, Pray, Love was good too
I'm a big Nora Roberts fan so any of her J.D. Robb books are so fun. Try and start with Naked in Death.
Now I have a lot of books to look into...Thanks girls!!!
MrsSDSU...I absolutely love The Great Gatsby! I just love that life...flapping and prohibition and drama...LOVE IT!!!
I'm reading The Secret Life of Bees and it is great. I just finished The Glass Castle and I loved it (although it was so good that I couldn't put it down and read it in 2 days). I also really liked the Kite Runner and his other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns.
I also agree with Eat, Pray, Love.
Just_Ali - I loved Bitter is the New Black and Bright Lights, Big Ass. Do you read her blog? She is hilarious!!! www.jennsylvania.com

I really liked Middlesex, it got a little slow in the middle but overall I loved it! I think Water for Elephants in a must read. I couldn't put it down. It was very fun and interesting and kept my attention the entire time. I also really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns. I want to read The Kite Runner once I finish The Glass Castle (which is also very good so far)
